Machine Operator

JOB POSTING - CANDIDATE-FACING Machine Operator Gemini - an Arch Promo Group company Location: Roxana, IL| Full Time | Non-Exempt (hourly) | ProductionManufacturing $16.50 for 1st shift associates, $17.50 for 2nd shift associates. About the Role At Gemini, the production floor is where customer orders become finished product. As a Machine Operator, you own a machine: you set it up, run it clean, catch problems before they turn into scrap, and hand off work the next department can trust. If you take pride in a make-ready that lands the first time and a shift that hits its numbers, this is your seat. You'll work on the equipment your site runs - digital and UV printing, laser cutting, digital cutting, sublimation, and related finishing equipment - and cross-train onto additional machines as you grow. You'll report to the Production Supervisor or Production Manager and work side by side with Quality, Maintenance, and the operators up and down the line. What You'll Do Read job tickets, CAD layouts, and production specs, then set up and run your assigned machine to spec. Perform make-readies - tooling, dies, gluing systems, counters, and other setup components. Monitor runs for quality and accuracy; adjust within your authority and stop the line when output drifts. Run in-process inspections and approve jobs before they move to the next department. Operate finishing and support equipment as needed (stripper, blanker, punch press, taper, guillotine, and other site equipment). Handle routine preventive maintenance: cleaning, lubrication, small-part replacement, and minor adjustments. Troubleshoot equipment issues and escalate the complex ones to your supervisor, lead, or Maintenance. Keep accurate machine logs - downtime, production counts, scrap, and quality events - in our production-tracking systems. Watch material yield and take action to reduce waste. Follow all safety policies, including PPE, lockout/tagout, and safe tool and machine operation. Help train newer operators and cover other machines during absences and peak periods. Bring improvement ideas forward: faster setups, less scrap, less downtime. What We're Looking For High school diploma or equivalent. Mechanical aptitude and solid troubleshooting instincts. Ability to read and interpret job tickets, CAD images, and blueprints accurately. Basic math for measurements, counts, and waste tracking. Clear communication and a willingness to follow direction and ask questions. Flexibility to cross-train and run more than one type of machine. Comfort in a fast-paced production environment. Nice to Have Prior machine-operation experience in printing, promotional products, packaging, or converting. Hands-on time with digital or UV printing, laser cutting, digital cutting, sublimation, presses, or finishing equipment. Vocational, technical, or trade-school coursework in machine operation or manufacturing. Forklift, equipment-specific, or safety certifications (may be required for certain machines). Schedule and Work Environment Standard production schedule, with overtime, weekends, and extended hours during peak production periods. No travel. This is an on-floor role: expect to stand on concrete for the full shift, lift up to 50 lbs (more with assistance), bend, stoop, and perform repetitive motions in an environment with moving machinery, varying noise levels, and material- or process-dependent dust, inks, adhesives, or solvents. Safety glasses and closed-toe footwear are required at all times; hearing protection, gloves, and additional PPE as posted by station.
