Salary: $87,894.00 - $112,178.00 AnnuallyLocation : Palmdale, CAJob Type: 12-monthJob Number: 25/26-04/27Division: Business ServicesOpening Date: 04/27/2026Closing Date: 5/27/2026 4:00 PM PacificSummaryTo maintain the best possible physical learning environment, under the direction of the Director of Maintenance and Operations; the Assistant Director of Maintenance and Operations will plan, coordinate, direct, and manage the related maintenance, grounds-keeping, and/or custodial requirements of the districtRepresentative DutiesDuties may include, but are not limited to the following:Plan, coordinate and manage a comprehensive maintenance, grounds and/or custodial program for properties owned or operated by the District; provide timely and consistent services for District properties.Confer with site administrators and assigned supervisor regarding maintenance, grounds, or custodial activities; coordinate and conduct school inspections; recommend actions for improvement with site administrators and other staff as appropriate.Prepare and implement an integrated pest management program in accordance with state and federal regulations.Supervise, inspect, and evaluate the work of the maintenance, grounds, or custodial personnel.Coordinate the logistics of assignments with all parties connected to work requirements, to include procurement of necessary tools, equipment and supplies, accommodation of activity with the work site, and coordination with outside contractors.Assure that task activity is performed as to prevent unnecessary interruption of school activities.Comply with all job safety and health requirements.Solicit quotes from outside vendors, evaluate same and make recommendations to the Director of Maintenance and Operations.Confer with the Director of Maintenance and Operations on all matters outside the usual daily routine.Develop and direct in-service technical and safety training programs.Support the needs of the district during times of inclement weather and in cases of natural disaster.Perform administrative activities assigned in support of the Maintenance and Operations effort in the District.Make recommendations to, and confer with the Director of Maintenance and Operations concerning the current and future financial and practical needs of the department.Perform duties of Maintenance and Operations Director in the Director's absence or as needed.Perform related duties as assigned.Click HERE for complete job description.Minimum QualificationsExperience:Four years increasingly responsible experience in maintenance of schools or similar facilities. Two years as a trade supervisor in maintenance or grounds management desired.Education and License/Certification:Completion of 12th grade, or GED equivalency, required. Some college and/or trade school desired.Possession of an appropriate, valid driver's license.Possession of an appropriate, valid California driver's license prior to the completion of the probationary period.Ability to be covered under the District property/liability insurance.Must have ability to present proof of high school diploma or equivalent diploma (i.e. GED) upon request. Additional hours may be necessary.CompensationSalary placement for new employees is typically at the first step ($87,894.00/annually) of the appropriate salary schedule. Upon successful completion of the initial probationary period, a one-step salary advance shall be granted with all future annual advances occurring on the established anniversary date.Probationary PeriodPersons in this position are required to successfully satisfy a probationary period of one (1) year from the date of appointment.
