Title: Tool and Die Maker Location: Bluffton, IN 467142nd shift, which is from 3:30 PM to 2 AM.Training:The hired person will be trained on the 1st shift (5 AM to 3:30 PM) for 30 days.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:• Designing and building of fixtures and small dies.• Teaching and/or instructing the lower class toolmakers the following:techniques, methods of operating equipment.• Build or repair any die, fixture or gage using a drawing or print.• Must be able to read part prints.• Run all tool-room equipment including mill, lathe, grinder, surface grinder,saw drill press and Mig/Tig welders as necessary.• Trouble shoot sheet metal dies in the presses as well as in the tool room.• Use layout tools and equipment, i.e.: height gages, Jo-Blocks, indicators,micrometers, and calipers.• Clean up assigned work areas including your work bench.• Complete all documents such as job cards, p.m. logbook, etc.• Operate cranes for trucks and lift trucks to move dies.• Inform Inspection at end of each shift or at the end of the job about anyexcess parts (scrap/questionable) or raw material at the press or machine soit can be disposed of in the proper manner.• Observes and complies with all company, federal and state safety andenvironmental policies and practices.• Develops strong working knowledge of all relevant quality policies,procedures, and work instructions. associated with the successfulperformance on this job.• Maintains a clean, orderly, and safe personal work area and shared facilityspace.• Stop production at any work center, as necessary, if safety is beingjeopardized, or to correct quality problems. Any work stoppage must bereported immediately to the production shift supervisor, and qualityproblems to inspection or the Quality Manager.• Responsible for all other duties assigned. Basic Requirements and Skills:• Good eyesight and health to permit full time employment and attendancewithin the company absenteeism guidelines.• Ability to manipulate up to 90 lbs.• Be able to place or position parts on surface plates or other inspectionequipment.• Be able to manipulate small parts for sorting and inspection.• Must meet the required standards for quality and quantity of work.• Able to do general cleaning and housekeeping tasks to keep the work areaclean.• Be able to learn how to use micrometers, calipers, profilometers, heightgages, dial indicators, gage blocks and other equipment.• Be able to learn English and metric measuring systems and be able to convertbetween them.• Must have good written and verbal communication skills.• Must follow all safety requirements.• Know and understand Safety Data Sheet requirements.• Accurately complete all documents such as job cards, etc. as required.• Properly care for all company property and tools issued.• Be able to lift, bend, twist, walk and climb as required to perform the job.• Must pass the pre-employment drug screening.• Must be able to work overtime as needed.• Must have own die makers tools.• Must be able to run all tool-room equipment.• Must have good trouble shooting abilities.• Must have a certificate or proof of seven (7) years working in the tool and dietrade or Journeyman Tool & Die card.• Must be able to build or repair any die, fixture or gage using a drawing orprint.• Aids supervisor in identifying training needs. Attends and participates in allscheduled training and education programs identified for this position.Education and/or Experience:• High School Diploma or GED• 4 year apprenticeship with minimum 576 classroom hours• Employees must be able to verbally explain company Quality Policy and ISOQuality Management Systems.
