Luna Data Solutions is seeking an Application Architect for a long term remote contract opportunity in Texas.** Remote but must reside in Texas, and must currently live in Texas at time of submittal **Will lead the design and implementation of overall application architecture, creating a scalable, high-performance framework to transition from manual, paper-based processes to a modern electronic data exchange.Involves designing the application logic required to implement standardized exchanges while ensuring strict adherence to technical specifications through secure APIs and web services.By architecting automated workflows, triggers, and electronic notifications, the consultant will improve processing accuracy and efficiency while implementing robust application-level security protocols, including encryption and authorization, to protect sensitive data in compliance with state and federal standards.Serving as the primary technical lead, the consultant will provide expert guidance to the development team on coding standards, design patterns, and best practices to ensure the delivery of high-quality, maintainable code.Will coordinate with Database Architects and legacy system experts to design integration points with existing UI systems and the Enterprise Data Warehouse, while producing comprehensive technical documentation such as architectural blueprints and system sequence diagrams.Will lead code review and quality assurance processes, mentor junior developers, and collaborate closely with project stakeholders in a highly collaborative environment to meet tight deadlines and maintain operational continuity throughout the system modernization.Perform other duties as assigned to maintain operations.Minimum Requirements4+ years of extensive hands-on experience with enterprise-level application development using C#/.NET, Java Enterprise, or similar frameworks, specifically for building scalable web applications and services.4+ years of proven experience designing and implementing secure web services (REST, SOAP) and managing electronic data exchanges (XML, JSON) between disparate internal and external systems.4+ years of experience in developing, debugging, and modifying robust Unix/Linux shell scripts.4+ years of proven ability to act as a Technical Lead, including planning project roadmaps, organizing cross-departmental technical coordination, and managing developer resources across different project phases.4+ years of advanced knowledge of software architecture design patterns, Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA), and security best practices for protecting data-in-transit.4+ years of experience establishing and leading technical standards, including performing code reviews, mentoring developers, and collaborating with QA teams on complex integration testing.4+ years of technical skills such as programming in certain coding languages, platforms, domains and troubleshooting, web development and database management.4+ years of expert troubleshooting skills in complex web environments, with the ability to resolve integration challenges between state systems and external brokers.4+ years of proficiency in creating high-level architectural artifacts, such as system diagrams, data flow models, and technical specifications to guide development.Preferred Background6+ years of experience with more than one type of RDBMS (DB2, SQL Server, Oracle).2+ years of previous experience implementing or working with NASWA SIDES (State Information Data Exchange System) exchanges and technical specifications.4+ years of experience implementing Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines to streamline the deployment and testing of complex application architectures.4+ years of proficiency in designing and troubleshooting complex XML/SOAP and JSON/RESTful web services used in federal/state data exchanges.4+ years of experience in application development, software engineering principles, design patterns, architecture styles, and quality attributes.
