Staff Engineer/Geologist/Scientist

SALARY: $60k - $80,000 commensurate with experience
PREFERRED LOCATION: Denver, Colorado - Candidates residing in other states will also be considered.
Applied Intellect LLC (AI) is seeking a Staff Engineer/Geologist/Scientist to support our Environmental Services Division. This position, preferably based out of Denver, Colorado, will include a combination of field work and technical support to support multiple environmental based contracts with federal and private sector clientele.
Prior experience with federal land management agencies is a plus with a heavy focus on United States Forest Service (USFS); United States Department of the Interior (USDOI); Bureau of Land Management (BLM); National Park Service (NPS); as well as state, local and commercial enterprises.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Data interpretation and analysis, calculations, and modeling;
Evaluate complex conditions, and propose alternatives and solutions;
Prepare and review of cost estimates, schedules, proposals, work plans and reports;
Observe and document environmental site conditions;
Conduct environmental sampling (soil, surface water, groundwater, soil vapor, biota);
Installation and logging of soil borings and monitoring wells;
Time management: Completing required tasks on time, and within budget;
Adherence to safety planning and protocols;
Meet and coordinate activities with colleagues, clients, contractors and agency officials; and
Perform other duties as assigned or required.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
BS degree (advanced degree a plus) in environmental science, geology, or engineering;
2 to 5 years of relevant experience, including expertise in environmental site investigations, and remediation;
Experience working on abandoned mine land sites;
Experience with orphaned and abandoned oil and gas wells a plus;
Familiarity with Federal RCRA/CERCLA and State environmental regulations;
OSHA HAZWOPER training;
Strong communication and organizational skills;
Excellent technical writing and research skills;
Ability to work independently, or in a team environment;
Self-motivating ability to support multiple projects and tasks concurrently;
Proficiency in MS Office (i.e., Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, Teams), Google Earth. Experience with AutoCAD and ArcGIS a plus;
Physical Ability: Office work may include sitting for extended periods of time. Fieldwork may include walking over uneven terrain for extended periods; ability to lift 50 lbs; potential exposure to moving equipment, dust, noise, chemicals and inclement weather;
Valid driver’s license with a clear MVR; and
Travel availability: est. 50%, or as needed.
TRAINING REQUIREMENTS
Satisfactory completion of AI’s Orientation and Training, including all web-based training; and
Complete additional training as identified by supervisor or Human Resources.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Use of manual dexterity, tactile, visual, and audio acuity;
Use of repetitive motion, prolonged periods of sitting and standing, and sustained visual and mental applications and demands;
Occasional lifting (up to 25 pounds), bending, pulling, and carrying; and
Quantitative/mathematical ability (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, standard measurements).
