Senior AccountantKnights Care LLC – Upstate New York RegionPosition SummaryKnights Care LLC is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Accountant to support the financial operations of multiple healthcare facilities throughout Upstate New York. The Senior Accountant will play a key role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations, supporting audits, overseeing accounting staff, and assisting facility leadership with financial analysis and decision-making.This position requires frequent travel to healthcare facilities and close collaboration with Administrators and Executive Leadership.Reports ToChief Financial Officer (CFO)LocationUtica, NYEmployment TypeFull-TimeKey ResponsibilitiesFinancial Reporting & General AccountingPrepare monthly financial statements, including Balance Sheets, Income Statements, and Cash Flow Statements.Perform monthly account reconciliations and investigate variances.Maintain general ledger integrity and ensure timely month-end and year-end closings.Analyze operating results and prepare budget-to-actual variance reports.Assist facility administrators with financial performance reviews and action plans.Healthcare Financial ManagementSupport Skilled Nursing Facilities (SNF), Assisted Living Facilities (ALF), Independent Living Communities, and related healthcare operations.Review census reports, Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement activity, and revenue recognition processes.Assist with Medicare and Medicaid cost reports and supporting documentation.Monitor accounts receivable, collections, and cash flow.Analyze labor costs, agency staffing expenses, and departmental productivity metrics.Compliance & Audit SupportEnsure compliance with GAAP and healthcare industry accounting standards.Assist with annual audits, Medicare audits, OMIG audits, and regulatory reviews.Prepare audit schedules, workpapers, and supporting documentation.Assist with implementation and monitoring of internal controls.Budgeting & ForecastingAssist in the preparation of annual operating budgets.Develop monthly financial forecasts and cash flow projections.Identify opportunities for cost savings and operational efficiencies.Support financial turnaround initiatives and special projects.Accounts Payable & Receivable OversightReview and approve invoices, payment requests, and journal entries.Monitor vendor relationships and outstanding liabilities.Assist with collection efforts and accounts receivable aging reviews.Leadership & SupportProvide guidance and mentorship to accounting staff.Assist in training facility business office personnel on financial procedures and best practices.Work collaboratively with facility administrators and department heads.Participate in on-site financial reviews and operational assessments.Systems & Process ImprovementUtilize accounting software including Yardi, MatrixCare, PCC, and other healthcare management systems.Recommend and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and strengthen internal controls.Assist with system implementations, upgrades, and financial reporting enhancements.QualificationsEducationBachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.CPA or CPA candidate preferred.ExperienceMinimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience.Healthcare accounting experience preferred.Experience with Skilled Nursing Facilities, Assisted Living Facilities, Home Health, Hospice, or Continuing Care Retirement Communities highly desirable.Experience preparing financial statements and supporting external audits.Skills & CompetenciesStrong knowledge of GAAP.Understanding of healthcare reimbursement systems, including Medicare and Medicaid.Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.Strong organizational and time management skills.Ability to manage multiple facilities and priorities simultaneously.Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to travel regularly throughout Upstate New York.Preferred QualificationsExperience with Medicare Cost Reports and Medicaid reimbursement.Experience with Yardi, MatrixCare, and PCC.Compensation & BenefitsCompetitive salary based on experience.Health, dental, and vision benefits.Paid time off and holidays.Professional development opportunities.Mileage reimbursement and travel-related expenses.About Knights Care LLCKnights Care LLC provides financial, operational, and management services to healthcare organizations throughout New York State.
