Middle School Assistant Principal
The Ashburnham-Westminster Regional School District is currently seeking a dynamic, experienced educational leader for the position of an Assistant Principal for the 2026-2027 School Year. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, possess excellent communication skills, collaborate effectively with all stake holders, and have recent relevant experience in leadership.The Assistant Principal's major duties are as follows:Maintain a school climate that encourages cooperative and collaborative attitude amongst the staff and studentsMaintain effective communication with parents, staff and communityEncourage staff participation in parent-teacher association and community-wide eventsStudent Relationships:Maintain a standard of student behavior designed to command respect and minimize school, classroom and bus disruptionsHelp all students see themselves as unique individuals responsible for their own actionFoster of excitement of learning in all studentsSchool Improvement:Assist school council in the development and evaluation of the School Improvement PlanWork with school council and community to update student handbook and policiesObserve, counsel and motivate professional staff towards attainment of educational goals of school and districtReview student data to determine areas that require change in instructional practicesFacilitate and attend grade level meetingsIn collaboration with the school counsellors, develop and implement plans to support struggling students in the areas of social emotional or academicsAccountability:Track, record and manage student attendance dataTrack, record and manage student discipline and bullying reportsBuilding coordinator for section 504Coordinating referrals;Facilitate Section 504 evaluations and development of Section 504 plans;Monitor the implementation of Section 504 plans;Schedule annual review of each Section 504 plan;Assessment and Evaluation:Develop, maintain and implement professional development plans which promote hands on learning and high student achievementEncourage and initiate continued improvement of curriculum and teaching methods of classroom teachers, Special Educators and specialistsAssist teachers and support staff with behavior management techniques in and out of the classroomEvaluate and supervise staff according to Massachusetts Teacher Evaluation SystemEvaluate and supervise para-educatorsIn collaboration with the Principal:Develop and administer general school routine, activities within the building and facilities managementAssist with the development of the annual school budgetInterview and screen prospective staff membersPerform other tasks and responsibilities assigned by the principal and/or superintendent
