Title: Aircraft Interiors Mechanical Design Engineer (Structural)Location: Waco, TXLevels: 2-5 (Level and experience determines compensation)Duration: 6-month contract to hireMust Haves:• Bachelor's in mechanical, Aerospace, Aeronautical, Civil Engineering degree or related technical degree from an accredited university• 6+ years of experience in Mechanical/Structural design in an aerospace environment, specifically working on aircraft interiors structures and mechanical systems design• Strong experience with CAD design tools, preferably NX and Catia, modeling metallic heavy structures and reinforcements• Experience with material selection and fastener design, tolerance stack-ups / tolerance analysis• Experience with aircraft interior components, such as honeycomb panels (various core types), seating systems, interior linings (ceilings, sidewalls), doors (pocket, swing, curtain systems), and interior mechanisms• Experience with composite materials: carbon fiber, fiberglass, foam cores, etc.• Ability to obtain a ClearanceDay to Day:Insight Global is seeking a Mechanical Structural Designer/Engineer to support aircraft interior modification and integration programs for a large client in Waco, TX. This role will focus heavily on designing, modeling, and developing aircraft interior structures and mechanisms for ISR and special mission aircraft. The ideal candidate has strong CAD experience, aircraft interiors exposure, and cross-functional collaboration skills, working closely with structural analysis, electrical engineering, manufacturing, and installation teams. You will play a critical role in developing certifiable, and production-ready interior solutions in a fast-paced, iterative engineering environment. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include, but not limited to:• Design and develop aircraft interior structures and components, including: seating systems, interior panels (sidewalls, ceilings, honeycomb), doors, partitions, and mechanisms (tables, cabinetry, etc.)• Create and modify 3D CAD models and detailed drawings (NX preferred)• Collaborate cross-functionally with: Structural analysis teams, Electrical engineering, Manufacturing and installation teams, etc.• Perform reverse engineering of existing aircraft components using scans, legacy drawings, physical measurements, etc.• Support tolerance analysis, material selection, and fastener design• Partner with manufacturing to resolve: design issues during production/installation, as well as fit, form, and function discrepancies• Contribute to iterative design updates in a fast-moving program environment• Assist in developing parametric CAD models that can adapt to evolving program needsCompensation:$75,000 - $185,000 per year annual salary.Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.
