Driver Training Specialist

Schedule: Monday - Friday Hours: 7:00A - 5:00P Responsible for facilitating driver on-boarding training and orientation while maintaining and promoting a positive attitude and environment. Act as main on-site coordinator for program participants. Execute routine training program, including materials, hands-on equipment training, assessments, and evaluations. Collaborate with team to monitor curriculum and make needed improvements based on changing regulations, policies, etc. Build and maintain relationships with internal subject matter experts and outside vendors to ensure appropriate support for all training programs. Help evaluate training effectiveness, and assist with modifications where applicable. Execute programs within budget. Responsibilities: Facilitate driver on-boarding training and orientation through a variety of instructional methods including face-to-face classroom, hands-on equipment training, desktop/laptop computers, mobile devices, etc. Use adult learning principles and industry best practices to create an engaging, effective learning experience for all participants. Present information in a positive manner using a variety of instructional techniques and technologies. Manage participation behaviors and disruptions to maintain a safe, effective learning environment for the larger group. Prepare and maintain facilities, content, equipment, materials, and participants for a successful training program. Ensure a successful overall training experience for participants, including answering questions, troubleshooting technology issues, sharing real life examples, etc. Assist operations with travel arrangements for attendees including, but not limited to: hotel accommodations, rental car reservations, flight bookings. Effectively and consistently communicate itineraries to attendees in a clear and concise manner. Collaborate with others to monitor and continuously improve driver learning resources. Edit and revise material as needed. Communicate changes to ensure standard training. Provide meal options to attendees and process meal orders, ensuring timely delivery of food in compliment to training schedule. Conduct follow up calls to participants to request feedback on their first few weeks with Ruan. Share feedback with organization stakeholders to ensure concerns are addressed. Perform other job-related duties and special projects as required. Requirements: Job Requirements/Minimum Qualifications: Education: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience. Course(s) of study: Transportation, Safety, Organizational Development / Adult Learning, Human Resources Management, or related courses. Experience: 3-5 years of experience and background should include knowledge of the transportation industry and driver safety. Must be experienced in facilitating classroom training, hands-on training, and be comfortable with training technologies. Must be able to commit to Ruan's value statement by acting with integrity in everything we do. Team members must have a broad knowledge of Department of Transportation (DOT) rules and regulations. Must have strong communication and presentation skills. Must have the ability and skill to assess, coach, mentor, and train. Must be able to understand, demonstrate, and explain safe vehicle operation to others. Must have good problem solving and decision-making skills. Must possess or have the capability to learn necessary safety, Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and company policies. Must have the ability to solve practical problems and interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Must have mathematical ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, percentages, etc. Requires strong MS Office computer skills. May be required to have a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL). Physical Demands of the Job: Must have ability to occasionally travel. Mode of travel may include airplane, automobile, truck, or train. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell. The employee must occasionally push/pull carts that weigh up to 1,000lbs. The employee must be able to unload and deliver products at specific locations that require horizontal pulling with a force of 50 pounds, and lifting up to 55 pounds from floor to shoulder height. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee may occasionally need to perform duties during evening hours or as needed outside of a traditional work schedule. Environmental Demands of the Job: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. Individual will work on-site at an operational location, which may be loud, dirty, dusty, and greasy within OSHA regulations. Location may have a high concentration of diesel fumes and other adversities.
