Marine Upholstery Supervisor

Position Summary We are seeking an experienced and motivated Marine Upholsterer to lead daily operations within our marine upholstery and canvas department. This is a hands-on leadership role. The ideal candidate combines advanced marine upholstery expertise with strong organizational and leadership skills. Key Responsibilities Department Leadership & OperationsSupervise and coordinate daily operations of the marine upholstery departmentAssign projects, manage workflow, and prioritize production schedules to meet deadlinesTrain, mentor, and support department team membersMonitor productivity, workmanship, and quality control standardsCollaborate with management and service advisors regarding project timelines, specifications, and expectationsMaintain department organization, inventory, and material usage efficiencyEnsure compliance with company safety standards and safe equipment operationAssist in hiring, onboarding, and performance evaluations of department personnel Upholstery & FabricationMeasure, pattern, cut, sew, and assemble marine upholstery and canvas products as neededFabricate and repair cushions, bolsters, seating, enclosures, covers, and related marine soft goodsWork with marine-grade fabrics, vinyls, foams, threads, and hardwareOperate industrial sewing machines and upholstery equipment safely and efficientlyInstall finished products on vessels when requiredRepair and modify existing upholstery to match original design and fitRead drawings, templates, specifications, and verbal instructions to produce finished products accuratelyTroubleshoot fabrication challenges and provide technical guidance to team members Qualifications & SkillsProven experience in marine upholstery, marine canvas fabrication, or related upholstery fieldPrior supervisory, lead technician, or team leadership experience preferredAdvanced sewing and fabrication skills using industrial sewing machinesStrong knowledge of marine upholstery materials, techniques, and installation methodsAbility to manage multiple projects and production schedules simultaneouslyExcellent attention to detail and commitment to craftsmanshipStrong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skillsAbility to work independently while leading a team effectivelyPhysical ability to lift materials and work in both shop and marina environmentsReliable, punctual, and safety-consciousExperience with custom marine canvas including biminis, enclosures, and coversFamiliarity with snap systems, zippers, binding, foam shaping, and patterningPrevious experience in a boatyard or marine service environmentBasic computer and estimating skillsExperience ordering materials and managing inventory Work EnvironmentPrimarily shop-based with occasional onboard vessel workExposure to marine conditions including heat, humidity, confined spaces, and varying weather conditionsFast-paced production and service environment with multiple active projects Compensation & BenefitsCompetitive pay based on experience and leadership backgroundBenefits package available (if applicable)Steady, year-round work opportunitiesOpportunities for advancement and department growth 7am-3pm
