Prototype Build Engineer
Meta is seeking an experienced Prototype Build Engineer to join our team. As a Prototype Build Engineer, you will be responsible for leading the execution of prototype builds from concept through delivery, working closely with internal and external partners to ensure successful outcomes
Responsibilities Partner with internal teams and vendors to plan and manage operational resources required to execute prototype builds
Collaborate with Research Engineers to deliver prototypes as requested
Resolve schedule setbacks by developing and implementing recovery plans
Work with program management to ensure the assembly flow is properly supported across functions to deliver material and hardware on schedule
Provide program status updates and risk assessments to management to support short- and long-term goals
Communicate prototype build plans across multiple programs
Establish and drive a clear plan and path forward for executing prototype builds successfully, including:
Defining scope, timelines, and resource requirements
Identifying and mitigating risks and dependencies
Developing and maintaining detailed schedules, milestones, and build plans
Coordinating with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and collaboration
Ensuring compliance with company policies, procedures, and standards
Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including vendors, suppliers, and internal teams
Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement changes to increase efficiency and effectiveness
Minimum Qualifications BS degree in engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience
5+ years of experience with consumer electronic products
2+ years of experience with hardware development cycles and sustaining hardware
2+ years of experience in manufacturing assembly and test development
Experience leading engineers and technicians in daily work and building teams
Preferred Qualifications Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools to optimize/redesign workflows and drive measurable impact (e.g., efficiency gains, quality improvements)
MS degree in engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience
Experience adhering to and implementing responsible, ethical AI practices (e.g., risk assessment, bias mitigation, quality and accuracy reviews)
Demonstrated ongoing AI skill development (e.g., prompt/context engineering, agent orchestration) and staying current with emerging AI technologies
Experience building cross-functional relationships
Experience with optical and electro-mechanical systems
Experience optimizing designs for existing products or devices
$144,000/year to $204,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
