The successful candidate will provide specially designed developmental instruction and environment for pre-school students. We want teachers who are devoted to students and committed to a continuing program of personal and professional growth.OUR DISTRICTThe Sultan School District is one of the larger geographical school districts in the Puget Sound area, consisting of approximately 325 square miles. Sultan School District has approximately 2,200 students enrolled K-12. The curriculum supports social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development of children ages 3-5. The teacher creates a safe, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment in alignment with Washington State Early Learning and Development Guidelines (WSELD).ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESInstruction and CurriculumPlan and implement engaging, age‐appropriate lesson plans aligned with Washington State Early Learning and Development Guidelines (WSELD).Support school readiness skills, including early literacy, math, science, social‐emotional development, and self‐help skills. Use of specially designed instruction focused on student areas of eligibility will be implemented.Use observation and assessment tools to track child progress and adapt instruction to meet individual needs.Promote positive behavior guidance using developmentally appropriate practices.Classroom EnvironmentMaintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom that meets Washington Administrative Code (WAC) licensing standards.Establish predictable routines and transitions that support young learners.Ensure developmentally appropriate lessons are delivered and aligned to student areas of eligibility.Family and Community EngagementCommunicate regularly with families regarding children's development, behavior, and classroom activities as progress reflects IEP annual goals.Partner with families to support children's learning and developmental goals.Participate in parent conferences, meetings, and school events as required.Compliance and Professional ResponsibilitiesComply with Professional Code of Conduct, school district policies and procedures.Complete required documentation, including lesson plans, assessments, and attendance records.Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.Participate in required trainings, staff meetings, and professional development.POSITION MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSRequiredHigh school diploma or GED.Meets Washington State Certification Requirements for special education.Enrollment in or completion of Early Childhood Education (ECE) coursework.Current First Aid and CPR certification.Cleared Washington State background check.Certified to teach special education students.Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and engage in active play.PreferredCertificate or endorsement in early learning.Experience working with preschool‐age children.Familiarity with ECEAP, Head Start, or inclusive classroom practices.Knowledge of trauma‐informed and culturally responsive teaching.SKILLS AND COMPETENCIESStrong classroom management and child guidance skills.Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.Patience, flexibility, and a nurturing demeanor.Ability to plan, organize, and multitask effectively.Commitment to equity, inclusion, and child‐centered learning.Ability to write and deliver individual education plans.Ability to facilitate an IEP meeting.Ability to read and interpret special education evaluations.CONDITIONSEMPLOYEES ARE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR ALL FUNCTIONS OF THIS POSITION.
