Packaging Supervisor
Job SummaryThe Packaging Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all packaging line operations to ensure safe, efficient, and accurate production. This role leads the packaging employees, ensures adherence to production schedules, and maintains strict compliance with food safety, quality, and labeling requirements.The Packaging Supervisor plays a critical role in preventing errors such as mislabeling, incorrect packaging, and product mix-ups, ensuring all finished goods meet customer and regulatory requirements.Primary ResponsibilitiesProduction ExecutionSupervise daily packaging line operations to meet production targets and schedules.Ensure proper staffing, line setup, and operational readiness.Monitor line performance and adjust as needed to meet efficiency and output goals.Food Safety & Quality ComplianceEnsure all packaging activities comply with GMP, HACCP, and food safety standards.Verify correct labels, lot codes, and packaging materials are used for each run.Prevent cross-contamination and allergen risks through strict process adherence.Immediately stop production and escalate any quality or labeling discrepancies.Team LeadershipSupervise, train, and develop packaging operators and leads.Assign tasks, monitor performance, and ensure accountability.Promote a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement.Accuracy & Label Control (Critical)Verify that all materials staged match the production order before startup.Ensure correct product-to-package alignment at all times.Implement and enforce verification checks to prevent mislabeling incidents.Partner with Quality to investigate and resolve any deviations.Safety & ComplianceEnforce all safety protocols, including PPE and safe equipment operation.Conduct safety observations and address hazards immediately.Support audits and ensure proper documentation is maintained.Downtime & TroubleshootingIdentify and resolve operational issues quickly to minimize downtime.Coordinate with Maintenance for equipment issues.Escalate recurring problems and support root cause analysis.Reporting & CommunicationCommunicate shift performance, issues, and priorities to management.Maintain accurate production records and documentation.Collaborate with Wave Planner and Production teams for alignment.Qualifications3-5 years of experience in manufacturing or packaging operations (food industry preferred).1-3 years of leadership or supervisory experience.Strong understanding of GMP, HACCP, and food safety requirements.Experience with packaging equipment and line operations.Strong attention to detail, especially with labeling and product accuracy.Ability to lead teams in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.Physical RequirementsAbility to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 25-50 lbs.Work in a production environment with exposure to allergens.Ability to work flexible shifts, including weekends or overtime as needed.
