Payroll Specialist

Beyond TalentEdge is Greater Rochester Chamber’s for-profit staffing division, connecting businesses with talent through a variety of staffing services, including temp-to-hire, direct placement, and payroll services, empowering businesses to build robust, flexible teams.We are seeking qualified candidates to join our team for the following position:Payroll SpecialistThis position helps ensure the success of our staffing division, Beyond TalentEdge, through effective and efficient payroll processes. Administer payroll for new and rehired contract employees. Prepare, evaluate, and track employee time and paychecks. Create billing and complete employee-related forms.Duties:Process payroll each week of approximately 500 timecards – to include manual entry of timecards, as well as timecard and timeclock importsProcess stop payments and reissue paychecks upon employee requestProcess direct deposit set up and change requests for new and existing employeesSet up and file child support/wage garnishment payments and track on a weekly basis to ensure proper deductions are withheldSet up medical deductions for those electing health insurance and track on a weekly basis to ensure proper deductions are withheldProcess customer billing weekly including any billing adjustmentsPay federal and state taxes each weekVerify new hires with Social Security and NYSAssist with cash flow tracking, month end reports, and other payroll reports requested by the Accounting ManagerProvide high level of customer service to employees with questions and concerns regarding benefits and taxes as they relate to their pay, how to complete timecard entry, who to contact to request forms, where to send completed forms, etc.Develop strong communication within the department and as well as with staffing customers and employeesEducation and Experience:Associates degree in Accounting preferred2 years of payroll experience preferred (accounting experience a plus)Experience using databases and with data entrySkills and Qualifications:Knowledgeable in NYS and federal payroll-related laws including wage deductions, garnishments, tax withholding, etc.Proficient in Microsoft Office - specifically ExcelHigh level attention to detail and accuracyStrong communication and organizational skillsAbility to effectively communicate in writing, in person, or over the phone and in a timely mannerBi-lingual preferredAdditional NotesThis is a full-time, non-exempt level position will be scheduled to work Monday - Friday (37.5 hours).Pay range: $20-$25 per hour.
