The Job You Will Perform
A Mechanical Planner will improve the work force productivity and work quality by anticipating and eliminating potential delays through job planning.
This involves analyzing jobs before scheduling to determine the proper safety requirements, manpower, time, methods, detail job plans, materials, and other resources that are needed to complete the tasks, as well as creating and sending scope packages through Purchasing for bids to contractors.
Core responsibilities are identified in the IP MWS Manual and Planner Manual as work planning, maintaining planned work order backlog lists, weekly work list, work coordination, developing and maintaining job libraries for repetitive jobs.
The work includes responsibility for planned equipment care, repairs, and rebuilds of the systems. The work also includes, managing contractors, building contractor scopes for upcoming outages from recommendations from contractor inspection reports, managing BOM (Bill of materials), inventorying material on site, keeping track of critical long lead material, keeping all documentation (job packages), forecasting for future work from the outage critiques/follow ups and inspection reports.
Planners have the responsibility to organize, schedule, and manage all critical spare parts rebuilds, both in-house and off site, for their respective area.
Planners also have the responsibility for maintaining all area equipment files, OEM manuals, drawings, copies of all specifications, critical tolerances, repair data, and area SJP's and PM routes.
The planner should be constantly working to populate and update the BOMs for each equipment functional location in SAP-PM.
Planners shall assist and support the OMC in keeping the notification backlog updated and manageable.
The Qualifications, Skills and Knowledge You Will Bring:
High School Diploma or GED
5+ years' experience in industrial environment with demonstrated knowledge in Mechanical maintenance repair methods, tools, materials, and equipment
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Analytical/problem solving skills
Self-directed with good time and project management skills
Strong organizational skills
Ability to learn and use computer scheduling software effectively
Proficient in SAP or SAP-PM, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint
Understands complex safety systems (ZES, Confined Space, Hotwork, LOTO, etc.)
Preferred Qualifications
5+ years of experience in Paper industry or manufacturing
Familiar with Paper Machine repair materials
Demonstrated ability to manage and coordinate multiple projects and deadlines
