These roles span multiple experience levels and will support the design, development, test, and integration of advanced power electronics solutions—including resonant inductive wireless charging systems—for mission-critical applications across automotive, industrial, defense, and consumer markets.This is a rare opportunity to join a dynamic engineering organization working at the intersection of power density, efficiency, wireless energy delivery, and next-generation platform development. Engineers in these roles will contribute to both conventional switched-mode power supply design and cutting-edge long-range, high-power wireless charging systems capable of delivering milliwatts to kilowatts of power without physical contact—enabling complete operational autonomy across extreme environments. VSG will work closely with each candidate to match skill set, career goals, and compensation expectations to the right-fit opening.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESDesign, simulate, and develop DC/DC converters including buck, boost, buck-boost, flyback, LLC resonant, and full-bridge topologiesDevelop and optimize switching power supplies operating in the KHz to MHz frequency rangePerform power loss analysis, thermal modeling, and efficiency optimization across full operating rangeSelect and evaluate magnetic components (inductors, transformers, coupled inductors) for high-frequency operationLead PCB layout reviews for EMI/EMC compliance, signal integrity, and thermal managementConduct bench-level hardware bring-up, debug, and characterization of prototype power stagesDevelop control loop designs (voltage mode, current mode, digital control) and compensation networksSupport gate driver design, dead-time optimization, and switching waveform analysisPrepare design documentation, technical specifications, and peer review materialsSupport qualification testing, FMEA, and design verification/validation activitiesMentor junior engineers and contribute to design review culture (Senior/Staff/Principal levels)Design and optimize resonant inductive wireless power transfer (WPT) systems, including transmitter and receiver coil topology selection, compensation network design (series-series, series-parallel, LCC, LCCL), and resonant frequency tuning for milliwatt- to kilowatt-class applicationsDevelop RF amplifier and inverter circuits (Class D, Class E, Class EF) to drive WPT transmitter coils at operating frequencies ranging from 100 kHz to 13.56 MHz and aboveModel and simulate electromagnetic coupling coefficients, mutual inductance, and quality factor (Q) for air-core and ferrite-core coil designs using ANSYS Maxwell, COMSOL Multiphysics, or equivalent FEA toolsDesign and validate electromagnetic shielding and magnetic flux management strategies to minimize EMI and meet FCC, CE, and applicable regulatory standards for radiating wireless power devicesDevelop adaptive impedance matching and frequency-agile control algorithms to maintain high end-to-end power transfer efficiency across variable airgap distances and load conditionsCharacterize WPT system performance metrics including end-to-end efficiency, power delivery at distance, misalignment tolerance, and thermal behavior of transmitter and receiver electronicsSupport integration of foreign object detection (FOD) and living object protection (LOP) safety circuits into WPT system architectures for automotive, industrial, and defense deploymentsREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSB.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, or related field3+ years of hands-on experience in DC/DC power converter design (level-dependent)Strong proficiency in switching converter topologies and control theoryExperience with GaN or SiC wide-bandgap switching devicesExperience
