Software Engineers (Junior & Principal) – Federal Programs

We are hiring for multiple Software Engineering positions to support federal projects, including both Junior Software Engineers and Principal Software Engineers. These roles support a range of efforts spanning AI/ML application development and complex systems engineering.Position 1: Junior Software EngineerResponsibilities:Develop, test, and produce AI/ML applications for federal entitiesCommunicate with leadership and customers to refine and understand requirementsDocument software, including user manuals and technical reportsDesign and develop applications with graphical interfaces, visualization tools, and database integrationsWrite clean, efficient, and maintainable code to solve complex problemsPerform software and requirements analysis, code reviews, and reliability assessmentsResearch advancements in AI/ML and computer scienceSupport team knowledge sharing and development practicesRequirements:Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field2–5 years of software development experienceProficiency in at least one programming language (Python preferred)Strong problem-solving and communication skillsAbility to work through full development lifecycle (requirements → deployment)Must be located in or willing to relocate to North AlabamaU.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain a SECRET clearancePreferred:Experience with AI/ML, generative AI, or LLMsFamiliarity with statistics or applied machine learningExperience with Agile methodologiesExposure to DoD environments or cloud platforms (e.g., Azure)Position 2: Principal Software EngineerResponsibilities:Provide technical leadership across software and systems engineering effortsPerform advanced design, development, integration, and testing of complex systemsAnalyze, debug, and resolve complex software and system issuesDevelop and modify operating systems and system-level applicationsSupport automation, performance optimization, and operational integrationCollaborate with cross-functional teams to improve system efficiencyContribute to architecture, standards, and engineering best practicesSupport full lifecycle development in mission-critical environmentsRequirements:Active SECRET security clearanceBachelor’s degree in a relevant STEM field10+ years of professional software engineering experienceStrong experience with Java, C++, or C# (plus scripting such as Python)Experience with system-level development and software productizationKnowledge of software standards, configuration management, and engineering artifactsStrong communication skills and ability to work in fast-paced environmentsPreferred:Master’s or PhD in a related fieldExperience with enterprise or tactical military systemsFamiliarity with DevOps, CI/CD, and system integration testingExperience with tools such as Eclipse, ClearCase, or similarKnowledge of server-side/database development and system administrationAbout Gray AnalyticsGray Analytics values our employees as our most important resource.
