Assistant Controller

Job Description
Manage daily accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and account reconciliations.
Lead and support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close activities to ensure timely, accurate, and compliant financial reporting.
Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
Maintain and strengthen internal controls to protect company assets and ensure financial accuracy.
Oversee cost accounting activities, including standard costing, inventory valuation, production cost analysis, and variance reporting.
Partner with operations and manufacturing teams to analyze production costs, labor efficiency, material usage, and operational performance.
Assist with annual budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, and strategic analysis.
Support external audits by preparing documentation, responding to auditor requests, and ensuring compliance requirements are met.
Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local financial regulations and reporting requirements.
Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting accuracy, and operational efficiency.
Develop and implement accounting best practices and process improvements.
Supervise, train, and mentor accounting team members as assigned.
Provide financial insights and recommendations to support business decisions.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
5–8 years of progressive accounting experience, including 2–3+ years in a manufacturing environment.
CPA certification.
Strong knowledge of GAAP, cost accounting principles, and financial reporting requirements.
Experience with ERP systems such as Plex, SAP, Oracle, or similar platforms
Strong understanding of banking processes, financial analysis, and accounting systems.
Experience with inventory accounting, manufacturing costs, and operational performance analysis.
Working knowledge of federal, state, and local tax regulations and compliance reporting.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including data analysis and reporting functions.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Strong attention to detail with the ability to make sound business decisions.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships across departments.
