Professional Land Surveyor

Professional SurveyorPosition Purpose:The professional surveyor will provide data relevant to the shape, contour, location, elevation and/or dimension of land or land features. Surveyors work closely with other professionals in our engineering and architectural departments.Essential Functions:Prepare and maintain sketches, maps, reports and legal descriptions of surveys in order to describe, certify, and assume liability for work performedVerify the accuracy of survey data, including measurements and calculations conducted at survey sitesDirect or conduct surveys in order to establish legal boundaries for properties based on legal deeds and titlesRecord results of surveys including the shape, contour, location, elevation, and dimensions of land or land featuresCalculate heights, depths, relative positions, property lines, and other characteristics of terrainPrepare or supervise preparation of all data, charts, plots, maps, records, and documents related to surveysWrite descriptions of property boundaries for use in deeds or other legal documentsSearch legal records, survey records, and land titles in order to obtain information about property boundaries in areas to be surveyedAdjust and service surveying equipment to ensure accuracyAnalyze survey objectives and specifications in order to prepare survey proposals or to direct others in survey proposal preparationRequired Traits & Characteristics:Highly motivated and team orientedGood written and verbal communication skillsOrganizational Relationships:Reports directly to Regional Survey ManagerRequired Education/Experience:Bachelors Degree in SurveyingProfessional survey licensure required2+ years of experience as a professional surveyorProficient in AutoCADStructural/architectural drafting and detailing experienceTravel: Position based in South HavenLocal travel requiredAbout WightmanWightman is a full-service consulting firm that exists to service people and the communities we live in.
