JMT is currently ranked #50 on Engineering News-Record's list of the Top 500 Design Firms.Position summary: JMT is looking for a Construction Engineering Inspector to assist engineers with the completion of Water/Wastewater and Utility construction projects in Tampa, FL.Immigration sponsorship or support (e.g. H1B, F-1 CPT/OPT/STEM OPT) is not available for this position, except for qualified candidates eligible for the TN visa classification.Essential functions and responsibilitiesConduct regular inspections of water/wastewater, stormwater, utilities and related facilities construction projects to verify compliance with approved plans and codes - to include water and sewer utilitiesConduct regular inspections of roadway infrastructure including earthwork, asphalt, concrete, drainage, flatwork, etc. to verify compliance with approved plans and contract documentsProvide field engineering, construction management and contract support services (submittal review, contract document interpretation, requests for information, correspondence, change requests and change orders) as needed on site and in officeEnsure that construction workmanship and materials adhere to established industry standards and meet project specificationsAccurately document all construction inspection activities by creating daily reports and maintaining organized, detailed, and up to date field filesOversee and coordinate material testing activities to ensure materials used meet project specificationsConduct field measurements to establish quantities for pay item documentation as well as other contract administration documentationParticipate in close out activities, including preparation of punch lists and final inspection reportsCommunicate effectively and collaboratively with clients, contractors, sub-contractors, and project teams including other disciplines, such as cost estimators, designers, and other engineersWork on behalf of the Client to draft project correspondence, facilitate project meetings, and resolve construction related field issuesOperate and have the ability to upload, download and manage files in a Project Management Information System, PMIS, i.e. Procore, eBuilder etc.Provide input and participate in client, contractor and staff progress meetings.Gathers and maintains record documentsMakes field notes and computationsInteract with the general public, government agencies, contractors, sub-contractors, and other internal and external parties to respond to inquiriesRequired SkillsStrong computer proficiencyStrong in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)Strong written and verbal communication skillsMust successfully complete and pass JMT's Motor Vehicle screeningActive driver's licenseRequired ExperienceHigh school degree/equivalent or better3+ years of related experience on field projects.Strong understanding of municipal specifications, governmental agencies (FDOT) specifications, details, and practicesMust be able to read plans and specificationsStrong understanding of construction site safety practicesWilling to travel within the state of FLClient requested certificationsWorking ConditionsWork is performed in the field. Ability to extensively perform bending, kneeling, standing, shoveling, and lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 25 lbs as needed.
