Event Manager, Planning + Outreach

About the PositionThe Foundation for Teaching Economics (FTE) is seeking a proactive, detail-oriented professional to join our team as a Manager, Planning + Outreach. This full-time position plays a key role in supporting the planning, logistics, and marketing of FTE's portfolio of residential and virtual programs for high school students and teachers nationwide.As part of a small, collaborative team, you'll gain hands-on experience across all phases of nonprofit program delivery – from coordinating university partnerships and managing student logistics to supporting outreach, communications and enrollment efforts. This role is ideal for a self-motivated professional who is eager to grow a career in program management, education, or marketing, and who thrives in a mission-driven environment.The Manager will report to the Senior Director, Planning + Outreach and work closely with colleagues across departments. Prior experience with youth-focused programs or educational events is helpful but not required.Key ResponsibilitiesProgram Planning + LogisticsCoordinate housing, classroom space, meals and AV needs with university and venue partnersResearch and plan off-site excursions for student groups across the country—balancing budget, safety, and educational valueAssist with program budgeting, check requests and invoice trackingSupport on-site logistics and staff needs during programs (shipping materials, preparing supplies, documentation, etc.)Provide operational support during programs, ensuring smooth execution for students, faculty, and staffMarketing + CommunicationsServe as a primary contact for program participants and their families, managing communications from enrollment through program completionSupport marketing and outreach efforts for student and teacher programs, including email campaigns, website updates and promotional materialsWrite and edit copy for blog posts, program materials, and web/print publicationsCollaborate on marketing campaigns to drive program awareness, enrollment and engagementTrack and organize outreach efforts, and assist with maintaining CRM systemsOffice + Administrative SupportAssist with front-line communications by answering phones and responding to general inquiriesSupport staff with administrative tasks, ordering supplies, and maintaining inventoriesAssist with organization-wide logistics, including shipping and materials managementContribute to cross-team projects and provide support where neededPreferred Qualifications3+ years of experience in event coordination, marketing, or program support (internships or part-time roles with significant responsibility considered)Strong writing and communication skills; experience with marketing or copywriting preferredProficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite, CMS platforms, or CRM tools a plusExcellent organizational and multitasking skills with strong attention to detailAbility to manage competing deadlines in a dynamic environmentCollaborative mindset with a willingness to take initiative and solve problemsBachelor's degree preferred; equivalent work experience will be consideredInterest in economics, education, or nonprofit work aligned with FTE's missionPersonal AttributesWe're looking for someone who is:Highly organized and adaptableDetail-oriented while keeping the bigger picture in mindResponsive to feedback and eager to learnComfortable working independently and collaborativelyPositive, resourceful, and solution-orientedPosition DetailsLocation: Davis, California (hybrid work schedule available after six months)Status: Full-time, non-exemptOccasional evening or weekend work required during peak programming periodsPhysical requirements: Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and stand for extended periods during eventsSmoke, tobacco and drug-free workplaceCompensationSalary range: $60,000-$65,000 annually depending on experienceTo ApplyPlease email your resume and cover letter to hsisler@fte.org with the subject line Manager, Planning + Outreach Application.About the Foundation for Teaching EconomicsThe Foundation for Teaching Economics (FTE) provides transformative educational experiences for high school students and teachers across the United States.
