Route 9 Mazda offers opportunities to grow a career in automotive sales and management while contributing to a collaborative, performance-driven culture.Role Description The General Sales Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in the New York City Metropolitan Area, responsible for overseeing all aspects of the dealership’s sales operations. This role includes leading and mentoring the sales team, setting daily and monthly sales goals, monitoring performance metrics, and coaching team members to meet or exceed targets. The General Sales Manager will manage inventory and pricing strategies, support advertising and promotional initiatives, and ensure consistent presentation of vehicles and the showroom. Day-to-day responsibilities include working directly with customers when needed, supporting the finance and service departments to create a seamless customer experience, and maintaining compliance with all dealership policies and regulatory requirements. The role also involves recruiting, training, and scheduling sales staff, conducting regular sales meetings, and implementing processes that improve efficiency, customer satisfaction, and profitability.Qualifications Proven experience in automotive sales management or a comparable retail sales leadership role, with a track record of meeting or exceeding sales and profitability targets.Strong leadership and people-management skills, including coaching, mentoring, performance management, and team-building in a fast-paced environment.Excellent customer service, communication, and negotiation abilities, with a focus on building trust, handling objections, and closing sales ethically.Solid understanding of dealership operations, including inventory management, pricing, finance and insurance (F&I) processes, and sales reporting.Comfort with dealership management systems (DMS), CRM tools, and basic data analysis to track KPIs and inform decisions.Ability to develop and execute sales processes and promotions in partnership with marketing to drive showroom traffic and digital leads.Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritize, multitask, and adapt to changing business needs.High level of integrity and professionalism, with a commitment to a respectful, inclusive, and compliant workplace.Availability to work retail hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed to support store operations.Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or a related field is preferred; equivalent experience in automotive retail will be considered.Valid driver’s license with an acceptable
