Join our team.About The RoleThe individual hired for this position will be joining a hardworking and dedicated team of scientists and engineers and will assist in the pilot-scale production and processing of nano-powder to create Iron Nitride magnets. This individual will operate chemical process equipment to develop nanoparticles using wet chemical methods, monitor product quality and track inventory, and contribute to troubleshooting and commissioning new equipment and new method development.What You'll DoConduct pilot-scale (>100 L) wet-chemical reactions to support production efforts for the next generation of iron nitride magnets Translate chemical processes from benchtop to pilot scale, and help facilitate an active partnership between R&D and pilot teamsPerform routine laboratory activities, such as preparing materials and test samples, as well as non-routine assignments, such as designing fixtures for experimental set-up, running new experimental processes, and establishing proper data acquisitionFollow common chemistry lab and chemical hygiene protocols, as the role requires using hazardous materials and lab and pilot machineryFollow standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the powder production processes to ensure stable, repeatable processing resultsAlthough SOPs are provided, this individual will be encouraged to suggest improvements to the procedures, develop and implement these improvements, and document them if adopted by management Collect and report accurate scientific and engineering data obtained from laboratory equipment and toolsMaintain and clean laboratory work environment and equipment; submit lab supplies for procurement as neededHelp install new equipment and troubleshoot current equipment and instrumentsWork with a high degree of attention to workplace safetyWhat We're Looking ForTechnical 2-year degree in a scientific field (physics, chemistry, materials, etc.) OR 2+ years of experience in an industrial or scientific lab environmentExcellent hands-on lab skills, eye for detail and ability to operate lab equipment Highly collaborative, enjoys working within a diverse team environmentStrong interpersonal communication, prioritization, and organizational skillsAbility to occasionally lift and transport heavy equipmentAbility to follow directions and meet deadlinesNice To HaveBachelor’s degree in an engineering field or chemistryExperience with ISO in a manufacturing environment with understanding of the importance of following standard operating procedures (SOPs)Experience working with nanoparticles, nanomaterials or powders in a laboratory environment Experience in operating heavy equipment including agitated tank reactors and separation equipmentExperience using electronic lab notebooks (ELNs) or laboratory inventory management systems (LIMS)Experience analyzing data from measurement techniques including small-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS), BET, laser diffraction and rheological measurementsAcademic and/or industry experience working with advanced materialsOur Pay And BenefitsSalary: $30 - $40 hourly, depending on education, experience and skillsComprehensive medical, dental, and vision insuranceMental healthcare benefits401k plan with 6% company matchPaid time off to take time for what you need in lifeExperience in a fun, high-performing, manufacturing environment set to change the world
