FLORENCE TOWNSHIP SCHOOL DISTRICTEla Basic Skills Teacher - Riverfront SchoolPosition: ELA Basic Skills TeacherLocation: Riverfront SchoolQualificationsValid New Jersey certification (Teacher of English or Elementary with appropriate middle school experience)Demonstrated experience teaching reading/ELA at the middle school level preferredKnowledge of adolescent literacy development and intervention strategiesExperience with structured literacy approaches; Orton-Gillingham training or certification preferredAbility to analyze data and provide targeted, skill-based instructionStrong collaboration and communication skillsKey ResponsibilitiesProvide targeted small-group (pull-out) reading and ELA interventionDeliver in-class support through collaboration and co-teaching with general education teachersImplement structured literacy approaches, including Orton-Gillingham, to support decoding, fluency, and comprehensionUse assessment data to identify student needs, plan instruction, and monitor progressCollaborate with classroom teachers to align interventions with grade-level instructionMaintain accurate records of student progress and adjust instruction as neededCommunicate student progress with staff and families, as appropriateSupport students in building confidence and independence as readers and writersPreferred SkillsExperience providing both pull-out intervention and in-class supportAbility to co-teach and consult effectively with general education teachersStrong understanding of decoding, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension instructionExperience supporting students with diverse learning needsAbility to create a structured, supportive learning environment that promotes growth and confidenceSalary: As per the current negotiated contractOpening Date: April 30, 2026Closing Date: May 14, 2026Start Date: September 1. 2026Florence Township Public School District is an Equal Opportunity Employercc: Carey Kessler, FTEA President
