Registered Nurse (RN) - Inpatient Psych (G1)

Registered Nurse IThe Inpatient Psychiatry Unit (G1) provides care for adults 18 and older at both St. Mary's and Rochester General Hospital, treating individuals with schizophrenia, mood disorders, depression, anxiety, and those receiving ECT. Nurses play a key role in direct patient care, including medication administration, de-escalation, diabetic care, and blood draws, while working closely with a multidisciplinary treatment team. Responsibilities include: Providing high-quality, patient-centered, clinical care Performing initial and ongoing assessment of the patient, utilizing appropriate data Communicating and documenting assessment of patient with the interdisciplinary team Developing and documenting plan of care, treatment and services which is individualized and appropriate for the patient needs, strengths, limitations and goals Complying with organizational policies, procedures and protocols including policies governing safety, medication administration and documentation Revising plan of care based on ongoing evaluations and updating documentation appropriately Completing at least one clinical research utilization (CRU) form for submission to Nursing Research Department utilizing a research article from the last 5 years from research performed in the United States Compliance includes: Completing a minimum of 5 nationally approved contact hours (CNE or CEU) per year Completing mandatory in-services and health screens in timely manner Maintaining Basic Life Support (BLS) certification Required qualifications include: Diploma or Associate's Degree in Nursing Registered Nurse license in New York State Basic Life Support (BLS) certification Preferred qualifications include: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred At least 6 RN months experience preferred Education: AS: Nursing (Required) Licenses/Certifications: BLS - Basic Life Support - American Heart Association (AHA), RN - Registered Nurse - New York State Education Department (NYSED) Physical requirements: Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.
