Summary
The Project Archivist is dedicated to the processing, description and preservation of School records in both digital and analog form. The candidate will be expected to produce finding aids using ArchivesSpace, and should have knowledge of other access tools, the development of DACS, digitization, and related technical issues. This role is also responsible for providing customer-focused service and building positive and constructive relationships with stakeholders by understanding their needs and problems, and providing timely communication and service.
This is a part-time position, approximately 20 hours per week for a minimum of one year. The schedule can be flexible.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Processes, describes and preserves School records in both digital and analog form in compliance with accepted archival procedures and standards. Utilizing ArchivesSpace, creates appropriate records and finding aids.
Digitizes documents and photographs as needed in accordance with the departmental standards.
Shelf maintenance in the storage areas to re-shift, shelve, and ensure collections are properly stored.
Non-Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Archival reference support and community outreach as needed
Requirements
In the process of finishing or having completed a Master's Degree in Information Science, Library Science or a similar degree such as Public History from an ALA-accredited program with a concentration in archives management or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Customer service experience
Minimum 2 years of experience processing archival records, records management, and digital preservation
Knowledge of Preservica and Omeka helpful
Demonstrated knowledge of archives and records management theory and practice, including experience processing archival records
Demonstrated ability to appraise, process, and describe both analog and born-digital historical records
Working knowledge of archival software systems such as ArchivesSpace
Fluency with relevant standards for archival description, including DACS, EAD, Dublin Core, METS, MODS, and MARC
Strong decision-making and project management skills
Excellent organizational skills and close attention to detail
Strong computer proficiency
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently as well as within a team environment

Physical demands exceed those of sedentary work. Must be able to remain on their feet or sit for extended periods of time, go up and down flights of steps, as well as stoop, kneel, crouch, and lift.

Must be capable of using visual display terminal with continuous wrist movement on a keyboard
