Powering a new electric world for a brighter, more secure future.Job DescriptionThe Staff Accountant primarily supports the project and cost accounting functions with billings, cash applications, and accounts receivable supporting activities, but will also support general accounting functions, including preparing journal entries, performing account reconciliations, and assisting with the month-end close process to ensure accurate financial reporting in accordance with GAAP and company policies. This role directly supports milestone billing, payment application, and customer account maintenance while assisting with the resolution of discrepancies and aging balances.ResponsibilitiesPrepare routine and adjusting journal entries with appropriate supporting documentationAssist with monthly, quarterly and year end closeReconcile balance sheet accounts and investigate variancesPrepare and issue customer invoices based on approved milestones and billing instructionsProcess and review inventory transfers to and from projects in accordance with project accounting policiesTrack issued invoices and maintain billing documentationSupport weekly milestone billing reporting and follow up on missing or delayed billing inputsReview daily bank activity to identify customer paymentsApply customer payments based on remittance informationIdentify and escalate unapplied cash or discrepanciesMonitor AR aging and assist with collection follow-upInvestigate customer payment discrepancies and coordinate resolutionAssist with managing unapplied credits and balancesMaintain customer records in the accounting system, including:Customer master dataTax exemption certificates (TECs)Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions.QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required (or equivalent combination of education and experience)1–3+ years of accounting experience, preferably in billing, accounts receivable, or project accountingExperience participating in month-end close preferredProficiency in Microsoft Excel (basic formulas, lookups preferred)Experience with ERP or accounting systemsExperience in a manufacturing, construction, or project-based environment preferredWorking knowledge of GAAP fundamentalsSatisfactory completion of additional background screening.Required Skill/AbilitiesStrong attention to detail and accuracyStrong organizational and documentation skillsAbility to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environmentAnalytical and problem-solving skillsAbility to communicate professionally with internal teams and customersAbility to escalate issues appropriatelyAbility to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgmentAbility to work independently while collaborating with the accounting teamWork Environment and Physical DemandsThe work environment is a typical office environment, with quiet to moderate noise level, and traditional lighting.Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and operating a computer.Must be able to communicate effectively using phones or computer software.Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.Must be able to access and navigate each department at the assigned facilities.Must be able to travel between MCG locations as needed, some travel could require overnight stays.Additional InformationA Note to our Recruitment Partners: We really appreciate the interest, but MCG currently manages hiring through our internal team.
