In this model, we directly serve students through six years of their postsecondary journey, with a strong emphasis on enrollment, persistence, transfer readiness, and multiple pathways to degree and credential attainment. The overall goal of the program is to increase postsecondary attainment rates among Breakthrough students through associate degrees, bachelor’s degree completion, trade and workforce-aligned credentials.EducationAs a primary provider of direct services to students and their families, the College & Career Success Program Coordinator is committed to the academic, career, and personal development of students pursuing a postsecondary education. This role carries a direct caseload of up to 75 students (primarily students seeking to re-enroll or already enrolled in community colleges, technical programs, and a smaller subset of four-year institutions), as well as direct supervision of an AmeriCorps member with a similar caseload. This role reports to the Associate Director of the College & Career Success Team. To achieve the above, Breakthrough’s College & Career Success Program Coordinator will:Postsecondary AdvisingManage a caseload of up to 75 students, primarily seeking to re-enroll or already enrolled in community colleges and nontraditional postsecondary pathways, supporting persistence, re-enrollment, and progress toward associate degrees, transfer, or workforce credentialsDevelop meaningful relationships with Breakthrough students and recent high school graduates and their families via phone, text, email, and individual and group meetingsMeet or exceed standards of service for student contact based on tiered support levels and accurately document all interactions in the Salesforce databaseTravel to community colleges and campuses across Central Texas to meet face-to-face with students and campus partnersStewarding Young AdultsAssist students with community college and nontraditional pathway enrollment, re-enrollment, financial aid (including FAFSA/TASFA completion and renewal), academic planning, and transfer exploration to four-year institutions when applicableSupport students navigating barriers common to community college and/or nontraditional pathways, including stop-out and return cycles, part-time enrollment, work-school balance, and caregiving responsibilitiesResource ConnectionConnect students to wraparound supports that promote persistence and completion, including emergency aid, mental health counseling referrals, childcare resources, and academic support servicesData Tracking and EvaluationCollect and analyze student persistence, re-enrollment, and transfer data to identify trends, barriers, and opportunities for improved supportDesign and provide timely reports regarding program outputs, outcomes, and student progression across varied postsecondary pathwaysRelationship BuildingFoster a healthy, collaborative culture within the College & Career Success team and across the organizationParticipate in committees and workgroups to support team planning, organizational change efforts, and cross-functional initiativesProgram Delivery and DesignDrive student success in alignment with Breakthrough’s mission of supporting students on their path to postsecondary attainment, including associate degrees, bachelor’s degrees, nontraditional pathways, and workforce certificationsAbout YouBreakthrough Central Texas seeks a talented, collaborative, and equity-minded professional to support the day-to-day leadership and implementation of college completion advising and programming. The ideal candidate demonstrates operational leadership, strong relationship-building skills, and a commitment to continuous improvement in support of postsecondary persistence and student success. Because of the size of the organization and the fast-paced nature of the work, the ideal candidate will also demonstrate strength in the following competencies:Postsecondary Advising: Skillfully supports young adults in navigating the transition to and through postsecondary education by providing individualized guidance on institution and degree program fit, financial aid, registration and enrollment processes, degree progress, career exploration, and re-enrollment pathways. Coordinates support systems and campus resources to help students persist, address barriers, and maintain continuous enrollment, including applying the CASVE model when relevant.Stewarding Young Adults: Effectively and compassionately guides, coaches, and advocates for young adults as they transition into adulthood and increased independence. Builds trusting relationships that foster self-efficacy, accountability, decision-making, and resilience while supporting students in navigating personal, academic, financial, and life transitions.Data Tracking and Evaluation: Submits timely, accurate, and comprehensive case notes and program data while tracking and analyzing trends to inform student support strategies, improve program delivery, and ensure progress toward advising, persistence, and team goals. Uses data to prioritize action, strengthen operational effectiveness, and support continuous improvement efforts.Resource Connection: Works collaboratively with Breakthrough’s Student and Family Support Specialist and external partners to connect students and families to non-academic resources, including mental health, food, housing, transportation, and other support services. Ensures referrals and follow-up processes are coordinated effectively to support student well-being and persistence.Family Navigation and Caregiver Engagement: Builds trusting relationships with caregivers and families by providing accessible communication, guidance, and resources that support student engagement and success. Partners with families consistently to navigate academic, postsecondary, and institutional processes while strengthening family connection to programming and services.Program Design and Delivery: Uses appropriate content knowledge and operational planning skills to design, coordinate, and facilitate programs and events that support postsecondary success. Delivers engaging experiences for groups of varying sizes while ensuring programming aligns with intended outcomes, organizational priorities, and student developmental needs.Youth Development: Meets young people where they are and responds in developmentally appropriate ways that support social-emotional growth, self-efficacy, and academic identity development. Creates supportive environments that foster belonging, accountability, and student engagement across individual and group settings.Campus, Institutional, and Systemic Navigation and Partner Cultivation: Works effectively within schools, postsecondary institutions, and community systems to support student success.
