Fitness Director - Group Exercise/ Small Group - Full Time

Greater Philadelphia YMCA Employment Opportunity!The Fitness Director position is a high-profile leadership position that is responsible for helping the Executive Director with the overall direction, coordination, operation, and success of the Department. Ask us how we do it at the Y - it's awesome!Comprehensive benefits package which includes health, dental and vision insurance, paid time off, tuition reimbursement, etc.What is needed for this job:Bachelor's degree in recreation, exercise science, human services, or equivalent experience Experience as a supervisor and staff development is strongly preferred Experience with Group Exercise or Small Group Exercise class instructionCurrent Personal Training certification preferred, or acquired within 90 days of employment Scout talent, interviews and trains new instructors and personal trainers (assisting with their certification process, new procedures, policies, programs and services. Provides feedback and tools to help team members improve their skill sets, with follow-up       Develops positive relationships with members and team members while building communities Performance manages team members with timely and clean discussions regarding developmental opportunities and strengths     Optimizes schedule operations while driving business and member experience    Keep abreast and understand the related industry current market situations    Manages a budget and delivers on target participation expectations  Teaches classes as needed    The responsibilities we will trust you with:Own your department’s overall business to drive efficiency and grow members served (sales).Provide member services in personal training, small group training, and wellness evaluations.Directly delivers as well as leads teams that also deliver the following:Develops safe, professional, and comprehensive member fitness programs that drive member goal achievement and retentionMonitors and instructs members during informal floor observations and formal personal training sessions on the safe and effective use of cardiovascular, flexibility and strength training equipmentConducts fitness consultations for new members including pre-participation consults, goal questionnaire, and goal setting to assess and recommend personal training and other fitness programsProvides fitness floor assistance to all members to ensure safety, provide education, and motivate membersFulfills member service requirements such as fitness assessments and equipment operations, service desk duties and fitness equipment cleaningPromotes and sells personal training programs and servicesCompletes all administrative requirements associated with each client’s fitness planRemains current on certifications and new trends in the industryEnsures all members feel competent, confident, and connected by providing superior customer service through complementary and based services/programmingRemains current on credentials and continuing education to advance throughout the levels programWhat you can expect:Support from an amazing teamOpportunities to learn & growBeing a part of a non-profit organization that works to make the community strongerAfter reading this, if you’re thinking this is great- we want to meet you!Get the ball rolling with our quick, 3-minute online application.The Greater Philadelphia YMCA is an equal opportunity employer.
