This role ensures operational excellence across payroll processing, regulatory compliance, and equity plan administration, while enhancing employee experience and supporting broader Finance and HR initiatives.This position requires strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate cross-functionally across HR, Finance, Legal, and external vendors.Key Responsibilities:Payroll AdministrationManage end-to-end payroll processing for U.S. employees, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timelinessAdminister payroll systems and partner with external payroll providers as neededEnsure compliance with federal, state, and local wage and hour laws, tax regulations, and reporting requirementsReconcile payroll-related accounts (e.g., wages, taxes, benefits, deductions) and support auditsLead payroll-related process improvements, controls, and documentationStock (Equity) AdministrationAdminister employee equity plans (e.g., stock options, RSUs, ESPP if applicable)Maintain accurate equity records and coordinate with external vendors and transfer agentsSupport equity grant lifecycle (grant issuance, vesting, exercises, settlements)Partner with Legal, Finance, and HR to ensure compliance with regulatory and reporting requirements (e.g., SEC filings, tax reporting)Respond to employee inquiries related to equity compensationCompliance & ReportingPrepare and review payroll and equity-related reporting (internal and external)Ensure SOX compliance and maintain strong internal controlsSupport internal/external audits and regulatory filings (e.g., W-2s, 1099s, Form 4s if applicable)Cross-Functional PartnershipCollaborate with HR, Finance, Accounting, Legal, and IT teams to ensure seamless operationsProvide subject matter expertise on payroll and equity-related topicsSupport compensation and benefits programs where payroll/equity integration isEducation and Experience Qualifications:Required:Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, HR, or related field6–8+ years of experience in payroll and/or equity administration (level-dependent)Strong knowledge of U.S. payroll regulations, tax compliance, and reportingExperience with equity compensation administration (stock options, RSUs)High attention to detail and strong analytical skillsPreferred:Experience in a publicly traded company and familiarity with SOX controlsExperience with payroll and equity systems (e.g., Paycor, E*TRADE, Computershare, etc.)CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) or CEP (Certified Equity Professional) certificationBiotech / life sciences industry experienceKey Competencies:Accuracy & Compliance: Maintains high standards in regulated processesOwnership: Drives accountability for end-to-end payroll and equity outcomesCollaboration: Effectively partners across functionsContinuous Improvement: Identifies opportunities to streamline and enhance processesEmployee Focus: Ensures a seamless and transparent employee experiencePay Range: $116,000 - $174,000 per year
