Who We Are:At Voltify, we are building the next generation of rail - battery locomotives that fast charge autonomously and dynamically through a dedicated self-sustained microgrid network. We are bringing back the power to the industry and eliminating the dependency on fossil fuels.Lowering the rail industries main expense - energy - by more than 20%.This is over $3B yearly just in North America. We are already working with some of the largest global rail companies with over $50M in contingent orders. We have raised over $30M from top tier funds and strategics and rapidly growing. Our founding team has a proven track record in building billion $ public companies in renewable energy and infrastructure.About The Role:We're looking for a skilled Electronic/Electrical Engineer to collaborate on the design of our battery electric locomotive. This is a hands-on role where you'll work across the full electrical system lifecycle—from design and integration to testing and production optimization. We want a driven, fast-paced self-learner who thrives in multidisciplinary environments and isn't afraid to take on technical challenges in a rapidly growing company. We offer a competitive salary, comprehensive benefits, and the opportunity to shape the future of rail technology while building a generational multi-billion dollar company. What You'll Do:Collaborate on system design and architecture for a battery electric locomotivePartner with production engineering to optimize designs for manufacturing (DFM)Develop schematic designs and low-speed PCB layouts for control systemsDesign wire harnesses and cable routing for high-reliability applicationsImplement robust communication protocols including CAN Bus, Ethernet, ModBus, and board-level protocols (I2C, SPI)Design controllers and embedded systems for harsh industrial/automotive/locomotive environmentsConduct system and subsystem electrical testing, including automated test developmentIntegrate embedded systems and controllers with mechanical and software teamsImplement EMC mitigation strategies for high-voltage DC systemsSupport embedded software integration and Linux-based system configurationsEnsure electrical safety in high-voltage DC environments (up to 1500V+)What We're Looking For:3+ years of experience in electrical/electronic system design (automotive, marine, industrial, or rail preferred)Hands-on experience with high voltage DC systems (1500V+)Proficiency in schematic capture and PCB layout tools - we use KiCADExperience with communication protocols: CAN Bus, Ethernet, ModBus, I2C, SPIUnderstanding of embedded systems and controller integration - we use STM32Familiarity with design techniques for harsh environments (vibration, temperature, EMC/EMI)Basic Linux experience and comfort with automated testing conceptsKnowledge of wire harness design and routing principlesExperience with EMC/EMI mitigation techniquesNice to have: Safety-critical system design experience (ISO 26262, EN 50126/8/9, or similar)Ability to thrive in fast-paced, high-pressure startup environmentsProactive self-starter who can execute with minimal supervisionPassion for clean energy and sustainable transportationBonus: Experience with battery electric vehicles, BMS systems, or locomotive/rail applicationsBonus: Have built EN 50155 compliant devices, or familiarity with the standard.Bonus 2: Loves trains
