Each role in the district supports our vision that every student deserves a rigorous, joyful, and equitable learning experience.The Office of Inspector General is the independent oversight body for Chicago's approximately 500 public, contract, and charter schools. The Office of Inspector General is charged with the responsibility of investigating allegations of waste, fraud, and financial mismanagement in public education within the jurisdiction of the Chicago Board of Education. The Office's Sexual Allegations Unit (SAU) investigates allegations of sexual misconduct by a CPS-affiliated adult, including employees, contractors, vendors, and charter schools, where the victim is a CPS student and/or a minor.Job Summary:Reporting to the Inspector General, the Deputy Inspector General, General Investigations and Performance Analysis, will direct investigations and manage the OIG's General Investigations Unit which is charged with the responsibility of investigating allegations of waste, fraud, and financial mismanagement; and the Performance Analysis Unit, which conducts performance reviews that produce recommendations aimed at improving CPS programs and processes. This is a full-time exempt position that will be paid for time worked on a salary basis.The Deputy Inspector General will be held accountable for the following responsibilities:Supervise, develop, and manage the performance of teams, including managers, investigators and support staff involved in case intake, case management, special projects, report drafting, and case closing to ensure compliance with OIG protocols and practicesReview and edit investigative summary reportsMonitor assignments and track performance to ensure work is completed in a timely fashion in compliance with established quality control standards, provide guidance and support on concerns to ensure efficient operationsOversee case intake process and coordinate with other CPS departments as necessaryAnalyze and interpret CPS policy and state and federal laws applicable to OIG investigations and projectsCoordinate with outside law enforcement entitiesParticipate in developing office policies and operating proceduresOther duties as assignedIn order to be successful and achieve the above responsibilities, the Deputy Inspector General must possess the following qualifications:Education Required:* Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university* Juris Doctor degree or advanced degree in a related field preferredExperience Required:* Minimum of seven (7) years of overall professional experience in investigations, government oversight, law enforcement, criminal/administrative prosecutions, ethics, labor/employment law, or other advanced legal writing experience.* Minimum of three (3) of experience in a supervisory capacity* Prior government experience strongly preferredKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities:* Ability to show leadership, supervisory, interpersonal, and organizational skills and the ability to delegate assignments and tasks to staff efficiently while simultaneously monitoring the progress of multiple tasks* Ability to interpret data and evidence thoroughly and correctlyAdvanced writer with the ability to draft reports and other written work product on schedule and with clarity* Exceptional interpersonal skills and a commitment to professionalism and collegiality, with an ability to communicate effectively at all levels of a large governmental organizationBenefits:Health & Wellness: Your Care, Your ChoiceCPS is committed to providing comprehensive health coverage to our employees and their eligible dependents. The Chicago residency requirement does not apply to temporary/part-time positions, however, all CPS employees must be residents of Illinois.
