Our platform ingests architectural CAD drawings (DWG/DXF), interprets floor plans, and uses AI and computational geometry to automatically place sprinkler heads, lay out piping, and validate designs against NFPA fire codes — turning a slow, manual engineering process into fast, accurate, repeatable software.Role OverviewWe are looking for a Mid to Senior Software Engineer to help design, build, and scale the core systems behind the Fire Design AI platform. This role is ideal for an experienced engineer who can contribute across the full stack, from our Next.js/React frontend to our Python/FastAPI backend and CAD-processing pipeline, take ownership of features end-to-end, and help shape the technical decisions that define the product.You will work closely with the founders, product, and other engineers to build production-grade systems that power AI-driven fire protection design workflows.Key Responsibilities·     Design, build, test, and ship features across the Fire Design AI web app and backend·     Translate product and fire-protection domain requirements into robust technical solutions·     Own feature development from design through production deployment·     Write clean, maintainable, well-tested, and well-documented code·     Participate in and lead code reviews, ensuring engineering best practices·     Debug complex production issues across the full stack, from the UI to the CAD-processing pipeline·     Work with our PostgreSQL database, REST APIs, and background job pipelines·     Contribute to system design discussions and technical architecture decisions·     Improve performance, reliability, and observability across the platform·     Collaborate closely with the founders, product, and design on AI-driven featuresTechnical Scope of the Role·     Building and maintaining our Next.js / React / TypeScript web application·     Developing Python / FastAPI REST APIs and Celery background workers·     Working with PostgreSQL (via Supabase)·     Building AI-powered features and automation for fire protection design (sprinkler placement, code validation)·     Working with our CAD pipeline — parsing and converting DWG/DXF drawings and extracting building geometry·     Improving application monitoring, logging, and performance (e.g. with Sentry)·     Supporting secure authentication and authorization (Clerk) and data protectionRequired Qualifications·     2 years minimum of professional software engineering experience·     Strong proficiency in TypeScript and/or Python·     Experience building production-grade web applications and backend systems·     Strong understanding of system design, APIs, and software architecture·     Experience with modern frontend and backend frameworks (e.g. React/Next.js, FastAPI or similar)·     Experience with SQL databases (PostgreSQL preferred)·     Strong experience with Git and collaborative development workflows·     Ability to independently own features and deliver end-to-end solutions·     Strong debugging, problem-solving, and analytical skills·     Excellent communication and collaboration abilitiesPreferred Qualifications·     4 years of professional software engineering experience·     Experience building or scaling SaaS or B2B platforms·     Experience integrating AI features, automation tools, or intelligent systems·     Exposure to observability tools (logging, monitoring, tracing)·     Experience working in fast-paced startup environmentsWhat We're Looking ForWe value engineers who take ownership of complex technical problems from start to finish, think deeply about architecture and scalability, communicate clearly across teams, enjoy building real-world products, thrive in fast-moving environments, and care about code quality and long-term maintainability.What We Offer·     Competitive salary ($95,000 - $125,000)·     Opportunity to work on an AI-driven industry-transforming platform·     High ownership and technical decision-making responsibility·     Collaborative and fast-moving startup environment·     Career growth into senior technical or leadership roles
