This position provides hands-on experience with research methods in speech-language pathology, vocal performance, and health science fields, and includes additional leadership responsibilities, including supervising undergraduate RAs. The graduate assistant will engage in data collection, analysis, equipment use, and research dissemination.This role is ideal for students pursuing careers or advanced study in speech-language pathology, audiology, vocal pedagogy, performance science, healthcare, or research.Primary Responsibilities & Training:Graduate Research Assistants will receive training and work on tasks such as:Participating in data collection sessions with study participantsConducting data analysis and learning data interpretation techniquesAssisting with dissemination tasks (e.g., preparing conference posters, contributing to manuscripts)Training on hardware used in voice research and troubleshooting equipment issuesLearning and using basic MATLAB and Praat scriptsWorking with data in ExcelSupporting lab safety and maintaining a clean, organized workspaceAttending and participating in lab meetings, as neededManaging and mentoring undergraduate research assistantsDeveloping familiarity with research methods in speech-language pathology, voice science, and related fieldsStrengthening professional writing, reading, and oral communication skillsLearning to articulate research methods and results in a clear, professional mannerQualifications:Enrolled as a graduate student at the project start dateStrong attention to detail and dependabilityInterest in research, clinical careers, voice science, or health-related fieldsComfort interacting with participants and following structured protocolsWillingness to learn new software, equipment, and research methodsAbility to commit to a consistent weekly scheduleCompletion of required IRB and HIPAA trainings before start datePreferred Qualifications (Not Required):Students will primarily be recruited from:Communication Sciences & DisordersSchool of Music (Voice, Vocal Pedagogy, Performance)Health, Human Performance, and Recreation (HHPR)However, all graduate students with a strong interest and commitment are welcome to apply.Employer: Baylor UniversityWork Location: Hankamer H210Work Address: 1621 S 3rd St, Waco, TX 76706
