Media Director
Summary: The primary responsibility of the Media Director is to develop the optimal solution for our client’s business challenges. This position works closely with the Creative and Strategy Directors to formulate strategies and solutions that maximize the reach and effectiveness of our creative content. Having a keen understanding of where people engage with brands and dwhy is vital to our overall success. Using a mixture of market research, analysis, pricing structures, and client considerations, the Media Director is ultimately responsible for making sure the ad campaign has enormous reach for the best possible price.A procedural approach to managing the team must be employed utilizing modern management principles. To ensure the highest level of services are provided, additional duties and responsibilities may be assigned as needed and may include cross-functional or project team responsibilities.Essential Functions:• Develop comprehensive media plans that align with the client’s overall marketing objectives. This involves researching target audiences, identifying appropriate media channels, and determining the most effective allocation of budget across these channels.• Manage the media budget efficiently and effectively, ensuring that resources are allocated optimally to achieve maximum ROI.• Oversee the negotiation and purchase of media space and time, including securing favorable rates and placements to reach the target audience effectively.• Direct the execution of media campaigns from start to finish, including coordinating with creative teams, media agencies, and other stakeholders to ensure that campaigns are delivered on time and within budget.• Monitor the performance of media campaigns in real-time by using data analytics tools to analyze key metrics such as reach, engagement, conversion rates, and ROI. Based on these insights, make data-driven decisions to optimize campaign performance and improve future media planning strategies.• Direct the execution of media campaigns from start to finish, including coordinating with creative teams, media agencies, and other stakeholders to ensure that campaigns are delivered on time and within budget.• Keep abreast of industry trends, consumer behavior, and competitive landscape to inform media strategy and identify new opportunities for reaching and engaging target audiences.• Lead and manage a team of media professionals, including media planners, buyers, analysts, and coordinators, to ensure that goals are met, and objectives are achieved.• Build and maintain relationships with media vendors, advertising agencies, and other external partners to leverage resources, negotiate contracts, and stay informed about industry developments.• Collaborate with other departments such as marketing, advertising, sales, and product development to align media efforts with overall business goals and ensure cohesive messaging across all channels.• Ensure that all media activities comply with relevant regulations and industry standards, including advertising guidelines, data privacy laws, and ethical considerations.Skills and Abilities:• Clear and effective communication skills, both verbally and written, to convey ideas, negotiate with stakeholders, and collaborate with team members.• Ability to build strong relationships with clients, media vendors, agencies, and internal teams.• Strong leadership skills that motivate, inspire, and empower team members to perform their best work.• Strong negotiation skills to negotiate favorable terms that maximize impact of media campaigns while optimizing cost.• Adaptable and open to change.• Ability to pivot strategies quickly in response to market dynamics and business needs.• Strong strategic thinking skills to develop media plans that align with business goals, target the right audience, and deliver measurable results.• Proficiency in data analysis tools and techniques.• Data-driven decision-making skills; interpreting key metrics from various sources to optimize campaigns and drive performance.• Ability to plan, buy and optimize media across multiple channels to reach target audiences effectively.• Strong financial acumen and ability to manage budgets efficiently and effectively.• Ability to think creatively to identify solutions to complex problems.Education and Experience:• 8+ years’ experience as Media Director, or similar role in an advertising agency.• Demonstrated experience leading and managing teams effectively, overseeing complex projects, and driving strategic initiatives to achieve business objectives.• Prior experience and growth in media planning, buying, or related roles with hands-on exposure to media campaigns, market research, budget management, negotiation skills, and media analytics.• Prior experience working in media agencies, advertising firms, marketing departments, or related industries, preferred.• Prior experience developing and implementing media strategies that align with broader marketing objectives, target specific audience segments, and deliver measurable results, preferred.• A deep understanding of the media landscape, including merging trends, technologies, and platforms.• A deep understanding of media channels, including traditional (TV, radio, OOH, print) and digital (online – programmatic and/or digital display, native, influencer, social media, and search).**A combination of education, training, and experience which has provided theoretical and practical knowledge will be evaluated for equivalency.**This is an on-site position in Boise, Idaho. Candidate must currently reside in the area or be willing to relocate.
