Staff AccountantNational Insurance Defense Law FirmThe Opportunity:We are a national, multi-state insurance defense litigation firm with approximately 300 employees seeking a Staff Accountant to join our accounting team in our Miami-Brickell office!Position Summary:The Staff Accountant supports the financial operations of the law firm by maintaining accurate financial records, managing billing and client trust accounts, and ensuring compliance with legal and accounting standards. This role works closely with attorneys, billing staff, and management to support financial reporting and day-to-day accounting functions.Key Responsibilities:Maintain general ledger and prepare journal entriesAssist with month-end and year-end close processesPerform bank and account reconciliations, including operating and trust accounts (IOLTA)Support client billing processes, including reviewing invoices and tracking billable expensesMonitor accounts payable and accounts receivable, including client collectionsEnsure compliance with trust accounting regulations and firm policiesPrepare financial reports, including profit and loss statements and balance sheetsAssist with external audits and tax preparationTrack retainers and ensure proper allocation of client fundsAnalyze financial data and identify discrepancies or variancesQualifications:Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field2-4 years of accounting experience (law firm or professional services preferred)Knowledge of accounting principles (GAAP)Familiarity with legal billing systems and trust accounting practicesProficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting softwarePreferred Qualifications:Experience with legal/accounting software (e.g., Clio, Elite, Aderant, or QuickBooks)CPA certification or progress toward certificationExperience with trust account compliance and reportingSkills:Strong attention to detail and accuracyUnderstanding of legal billing and timekeeping processesExcellent organizational and time management skillsAbility to handle confidential financial and client informationStrong communication skills for working with attorneys and staffWork Environment:Office or work setting within a professional law firmMay require extended hours during billing cycles or financial close periodsWhat We Offer:Direct collaboration and strategic partnership with executive leadershipSalary range depending on depth and years of experienceMedical Insurance - Currently provided by Cigna Healthcare with multiple plans to choose from; partially paid for by the company; all outpatient mental health services are free of charge with no copaysOptional Dental & Vision InsuranceOptional Voluntary Life and Disability InsuranceOptional Voluntary Accident InsuranceOptional Critical Illness InsuranceOptional Cancer InsuranceOptional Hospitalization InsuranceOptional Health Savings AccountOptional Flexible Spending Account401k after one calendar year of employmentPaid time off (PTO) to support your overall well-beingSupportive and collaborative work environmentAbout Lydecker:Lydecker is an AV-rated full-service law firm with over 140 attorneys Nationwide!
