High School Assistant Principal for 2026 - 2027 School Year
PRIMARY FUNCTION: To establish and maintain standards and procedures of student discipline and welfare that are supportive of and consistent with school and district goals. To assist in maintaining a school environment which will result in optimum staff and student participation and commitment to the school's purposes. To support staff efforts directed toward meeting established standards of expected pupil performance and selection of appropriate assessment techniques. Board of Education designates this position as Management.SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED: Under the immediate direction of the principal; supervises and evaluates certificated and classified staff.Examples Of Duties And ResponsibilitiesDuties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following: Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom. Is directly responsible for the care, safety, and discipline of students during school hours or at school-related activities. Establishes and maintains student welfare programs. Supervises co-curricular activities and may be the administrator in charge of an activity either on campus or off. Responsible to see that all activities have proper supervision. Observes and evaluates personnel at the request of the Principal or Vice-Principal. Is a member of the Continuation School Admission Committee; coordinates relationships with Continuation School. Works with Police Department, Probation Department, Welfare Department and attendance personnel. Participates in and has significant direct involvement in formulation of district policies which relate to his/her office. Serves as Principal or administrator in charge in the absence of other administrators or when requested by the principal. Provides regular input to the district negotiating team on matters that relate to his/her office. Provides into school and district curriculum development and determination of program offerings. Performs other duties as assigned by the Principal.Assistant Principal, High School Page 2 Carries out specifically assigned administrative tasks: Establishes, directs, and supervises attendance accounting procedures and activities. Acts as Administrative Advisor for Social Activities. Coordinates student social activity calendar with Vice-Principal. Supervises the student and faculty parking lots. Coordinates the supervision of campus before, during, and after school. Supervises fire drills and the civil defense program. Supervises custodial staff with assistance from the Head Custodian. Coordinates use of facilities by outside groups. Assigns student counselors to the elementary school science camp. Acts as Administrative Advisor for school plays and speech contests. Supervises school publications. Confers with residents living near school and solicits community input regarding parking, littering, vandalism, and car problems for good public relations and to arrive at solutions. Acts as Administrative Advisor for Boys' and Girls' State. Bachelor degree from an accredited college orUniversity Required. Minimum Qualifications:Experience in school administration desirable. At least three years of successful teaching experience at the secondary level. Demonstrated capacity or high potential for educational leadership. Experience in curriculum development staff evaluation and management desirable.
