Application InstructionsPlease fill out the application and attach your resume.Position DescriptionJOB PURPOSEThe Project Engineer (PE) is responsible for the safety, quality, efficiency, and timeliness of the project. The PE is an integral part of the project team working closely with Estimating, Project Management, and Operations. As such, the roles and duties of the PE are very diverse and include the following: Establishing production rates for field crews, coding project time, documenting completed quantities, maintaining SWPPP documentation, preparing three-week look-ahead agendas, maintaining force account records, maintaining as-builts, assisting with submittals and transmittals, etc. While there are specific responsibilities and expectations described below, it is essential that the PE be organized, possess good judgment skills, and communicate effectively.Position RequirementsDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESPromotes safety, quality, efficiency, and core valuesAssists Project Superintendent and Project Manager with all aspects of project start-up, project management, and project close-out; including, but not limited to:Project scheduleScope reviewCPM schedule updatesLabor cost commentsDaily reportingRFI's, T&M's, change orders, and costs to completesDevelopment of submittal scheduleCollect and verify delivery and material ticketsSWPPPAs-builtsObtains data for documentation including working in proximity of and maneuvering through live traffic, large machinery, or equipmentUnderstands PO creation and reviewParticipates in planning and progress meetingsUnderstands foreman, labor, and production cost reportsProactive, self-motivating, problem solverThis job description is not designed to contain a comprehensive listing of all activities, duties, or responsibilities required of the employee. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSEducationBachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field Professional Certification EIT preferred, but not requiredOSHA 30 required; must be obtained within first six months of employmentCESSWI Certification preferred, but not requiredExperience Minimum of one year of experience in construction or related field (including internship/co-op experience)Requirements/Competencies Proficiency in engineering software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D or similarIs proficient in cost reporting and interpretationDemonstrates foundational knowledge of civil engineering concepts and practicesHas a learning aptitude for Great Lakes policies and procedures, including GLOSSDemonstrates strong ethics and integrity through honest and principled behaviorEnsures accuracy and quality in calculations, designs, and documentation; and recognizes errors and inconsistencies, addressing them proactivelyConveys ideas and technical information clearly in both written and verbal formatsHas good decision-making ability by making informed choices quickly and confidentlyIs a proactive self-starter who takes appropriate initiativeHas good problem-solving skills and can identify and analyze problems, and generate and evaluate solutionsIs agile and can quickly adapt to new information and changing conditionsShould be self-aware and emotionally intelligentPossess good interpersonal skills, including the ability to treat everyone with courtesy, sensitivity, and respectAbility to deliver consistent, on-time budget performanceProficient in Microsoft Office products and computer-based applicationsAbility to demonstrate leadership traits, including the ability to make decisions with integrityValid Driver's License RequiredPOSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORKThis is a full-time position, and the work week for employees is normally considered 40 hours Monday through Friday. Flexibility is required to support time-sensitive issues as they arise. However, greater emphasis is placed on meeting the responsibilities assigned to this position.WORK ENVIRONMENTMost of the work is performed outdoors under all weather conditions. The work schedule will involve travel and potential work at different field locations as necessary. Depending on the project, overnight stays may be expected.
