Full Stack Engineer
Tallo has built a platform that connects over 1.8 million young people with state agencies and leading organizations to help them discover, train for, and secure high-quality careers. We believe the world doesn't lack talent or opportunity; it lacks a way to connect the two. Join us in building that connection and changing lives. We are looking for a Full Stack Engineer who is obsessed with data-driven development, rapid prototyping, and understanding user behavior. This role is for the engineer who enjoys building different versions of a feature to see which one works best, analyzing the results of an experiment, and collaborating closely with product and research to turn a hypothesis into a scalable, production-ready test. You will be a key player in ensuring our experimentation platform is not only functional but also incredibly insightful and efficient. Your work will directly impact our product strategy and ability to innovate, making you a critical contributor to our mission. This role is a contract position with the potential to convert to full time. What You'll DoDesign & Build for Experimentation: Architect and build multiple variants of new features for A/B testing, focusing on clean implementation and measurable outcomes.Champion Data-Driven Best Practices: Lead by example in writing code that is not only efficient but also well-instrumented for analysis. You will mentor other engineers on how to build for testability and interpret experiment results.Experimentation-Driven Quality: Integrate A/B testing frameworks into our CI/CD pipelines. You will analyze, debug, and understand the impact of feature variants across the entire application stack.Evaluate & Innovate: Research, prototype, and recommend new technologies, frameworks, and strategies specifically for improving the speed and quality of our experimentation cycles.Collaborate & Iterate: Work within an agile development process, using prototyping and data-driven feedback from experiments to build the best possible solutions for our users. What You'll OwnExperiment Velocity & Quality: You will own the technical implementation of key product experiments, ensuring they are built efficiently and produce clear, trustworthy data.A/B Testing Framework & Tooling: You will own the strategy and implementation of the monitoring and analysis tools required to proactively understand experiment performance and impact.Data-Driven Technical Solutions: You will partner with product managers and researchers to translate complex hypotheses into elegant, scalable, and high-impact experiments. Our Ideal Candidate BringsExtensive Experience: 5+ years of software development experience with a demonstrated focus on data-driven engineering for high-volume applications.Architectural Depth: A strong background in designing and building low-latency, high-throughput applications, particularly in cloud-based microservice environments.Backend: Deep knowledge of core Java and enterprise technologies (Spring Boot is a plus), with experience in concurrent programming and optimizing database queries.Frontend: Expert-level command of modern front-end development (specifically React), including deep knowledge of the critical rendering path, lazy loading, and code splitting to create performant test variants.Cloud & DevOps: Hands-on experience with AWS services (e.g., API Gateway, Elastic Beanstalk, RDS, Lambda) and configuring them for optimal performance and scalability.Analytics Tooling: Hands-on experience with monitoring tools (e.g., New Relic, Datadog, or similar) to analyze the results of experiments.Collaborative Spirit: A passion for working in an agile environment and partnering closely with product managers and researchers.
