Lifeguard

SUMMARY: Seeking highly motivated, self-directed individuals to join our summer pool staff at Certified Lifeguards. These candidates must be certified in American Red Cross Lifeguard Training, First Aid & CPR for the Professional Rescuer, or able to pass the certification requirements. These candidates will supervise the Stephanie Gilpin Swimming Pool and surrounding areas. The pool is open daily during the summer pool season and candidates must be available to work days, nights, weekends, and Holidays. ESSENTIAL DUTIES and/or RESPONSIBILITIESinclude the following:Patrols and observes swimming pool areas, deck, and bathhouse Performs rescues and utilizes his/her Professional Rescuer and Lifeguard training skills in both routine and emergency situations Enforces facility rules and regulations for the safety and convenience of the public Assists in the cleaning and upkeep of the pool bathhouse, pool, deck area, and surrounding park areas to include but not limited to skimming, vacuuming and/or sweeping the pool and pool area Perform work outside in varying summer weather conditions Cleaning restroom facilities; picking up trash in and around the pool and park area; pulling weeds and mowing the grass in and around the pool area; Painting & maintaining a deck area; checking and recording daily chemical levels of the pool Establish and maintain effective working relationships with management, co-workers, and community members Presents professional appearance and attitude at all times, and maintains a high standard of customer service. Other duties may be assigned QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each duty satisfactorily. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to frequently stand, walk, run, bend, sit, reach, carry, and lift. WORK CONDITIONS:The noise level in the work environment ranges from mild to loud. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to indoor and outdoor conditions. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High School Diploma or GED Experience as a lifeguard is preferred, but not required. CERTIFICATES and/or LICENSES:Successful completion of American Red Cross Lifeguard Training and First Aid & CPR for the Professional Rescuer certifications.
