t-Time Bookkeeper – JKT | Excavation Location / Schedule Location: Heber, UT - Hybrid Schedule: Part-time to start (flexible hours) Growth Path: Strong potential for expanded role and full-time leadership as company grows About JKT JKT is a growing excavation contractor focused on building a lean, disciplined, and high performing operation. We are intentionally investing early in systems, financial visibility, and operational rigor to support rapid and sustainable growth. This role is our first accounting hire and will work directly with company leadership to build the accounting function from the ground up. Role Overview We are seeking a part-time Bookkeeper who is a self-starter, organized, and comfortable operating in a developing environment. This is not a maintenance bookkeeping role — it is an opportunity to help design how accounting and back-office operations work at JKT. Key Responsibilities – Core Accounting Accounts Payable (AP): enter, code, and process vendor invoices Accounts Receivable (AR): invoicing, collections follow-up, and customer communication Monthly bank and credit card reconciliations Support month-end close activities Maintain clean, well-organized financial records Key Responsibilities – Payroll & Labor Support Prepare and process payroll or coordinate with a third-party payroll provider Review and reconcile timecards and payroll reports Allocate labor costs accurately to jobs and cost categories Support payroll-related reporting and compliance Serve as the internal point of contact for payroll questions Key Responsibilities – Job Cost & Operations Support Enter and reconcile trucking tickets, timecards, and job-related costs Ensure costs are properly coded to jobs and cost categories Assist with job cost tracking and reporting Coordinate with field staff to resolve discrepancies Key Responsibilities – Billing & Invoicing Prepare and send customer invoices Track outstanding receivables and follow up as needed Support progress, milestone, or T&M billing as applicable Key Responsibilities – Systems & Process Development Help implement and refine accounting systems and workflows Identify inefficiencies and recommend improvements Assist with documenting procedures as systems mature Work collaboratively with leadership to build scalable practices What We’re Looking For – Required Traits Self-starter who can work independently and take ownership Comfortable building processes rather than relying on rigid structure Strong attention to detail and follow-through Organized, reliable, and deadline-oriented Comfortable in a fast-moving, evolving environment Experience & Skills Prior bookkeeping or accounting support experience Familiarity with accounting software (QuickBooks, Sage, or similar) Experience with payroll processing or coordination Strong Excel skills Construction or job-cost accounting experience is a plus Why This Role Is Different Direct access to company leadership Opportunity to build systems, not just maintain them Input and ideas are valued Clear long-term growth opportunity as the company scales Compensation Competitive hourly rate based on experience $28+/HR Flexible schedule Opportunity for increased hours, responsibility, and compensation over time Who This Role Is Not For Individuals who need step-by-step direction for every task Those uncomfortable with ambiguity or change Candidates seeking short-term transactional work How to Apply Please submit a resume and a brief note explaining why you are interested in helping build an accounting function, not just supporting one Job Type: Part-time Pay: From $28.00 per hour Benefits: Flexible schedule Work Location: Hybrid remote in Heber City, UT 84032
