The engineer in this role will have broad hands-on responsibility and ownership of New Product Introduction (NPI) projects from proposal through qualification testing and production support. The incumbent will have significant influence on the development of the product line and the advancement of Acutronic Aerospace Components in the marketplace.Electrical Engineer IVYour Roles/Responsibilities:Perform detailed electrical design and development of embedded control systems in support of the following Acutronic product lines: Actuation SystemsTurbo GeneratorsPower Generation, Conversion, and DistributionMicro-thrust TurbinesSupport proposal efforts in a fast-paced aerospace environment: Assess customer system level requirementsDevelop derived requirementsProduce requirements compliance matrixGenerate engineering models of proposed designs with substantiating analysis balancing rigor and speedContribute to estimating recurring and non-recurring costsContribute to the development of project schedulesDevelop detailed system performance models using MATLAB/SIMULINK (or equivalent)Allocate system requirements to components and subsystemsArchitect embedded electronic systems based on end item and derived requirements in support of the following Acutronic product lines: Actuation SystemsTurbo GeneratorsPower Generation, Conversion, and DistributionMicro-thrust TurbinesMentor more junior engineers on the electronic systems team in support of the growth and success of the electronic systems teamParticipate in activities that support the growth and development of the electronic systems team including standardization of design activities, workflows, reviews, and knowledge transferDesign and develop electronic hardware cradle to grave, including component selection, schematic capture, simulation, PCB/A layout, and all supporting analyses: Brushless DC Motor control (Trap, FOC) using Real-time MCU/DSP technologyPower electronics for motor control, active rectification, DC-DC conversion, and distributionIntegration of various sensors used in closed loop control systems (resolver, VDT, pressure, current, HED)Analog front end conditioning for various sensorsAssist in designing and developing firmware and software to support the systems/technologies mentioned abovePerform hands on bring up, integration, and troubleshooting of embedded control and power generation systemsDesign and develop test stands, fixtures, and procedures for the validation/verification of embedded electronicsPerform validation and verification of product requirementsPrepare documentation in support of customer and internal deliverables (reports, presentations)Perform in depth analysis of complex embedded electronic systems and prepare documentation in support of communicating context and results of analysisYour Profile/Qualifications/Skills:Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical, Electronics, or Computer Engineering from an accredited college or university, required, Master's Degree in Engineering preferredAt least twelve years of relevant hardware experience designing and developing: Motor controls and electromechanical control systemsPower conditioning and distribution systems (2+kW)Systems with common aerospace communication interfaces (RS-485/RS-422, CAN, etc.)Real-time systemsExperience with: Navigating firmware in embedded electronic systemsFailure investigation and formal RCCA activitiesSafety and reliability assessment (MTBF/FTA, etc.)Aerospace configuration management and controlPrior experience working in an aerospace quality control (AS9100) and manufacturing environment, preferred10-15% domestic travel required to support customer / supplier visitsWe Offer:Employer-paid medical, dental, and vision insurance401k matchCompany-paid holidays and Paid-Leave Time9/80 scheduleAbout Acutronic:The Acutronic Group has a proud history of building technologies and teams that are crucial to the aerospace, defense, and transportation industries.Acutronic's is the global market leader in high-performance motion simulation and test equipment.
