Job Title: Digital Content StrategistLocation: Brooklyn, NYJob Type: ContractWork schedule: Hybrid 3 days onsite and 2 days remoteNormal business hours Monday through Friday, 35 hours/week (not including mandatory unpaid meal break after 6 hours of work).Pay Rate: $70 to $80 per hourJob Description / Justification:SCOPE OF SERVICESThe Content Strategist is a creative professional who will help communicate complex NYC government concepts to a general audience. They have a background in information architecture, website content management, and detailed research and analysis. They are also a skilled copywriter with the ability to translate complex topics into plain language.This position will report to the Lead Digital Strategist.TASKS:Create content requirements and outlines for guided experiences across nyc.govWrite compelling plain language web copy for guided experiences in compliance with the NYC web content style guideInterview subject matter experts from across NYC government to understand complex topicsCreate and audit inventory of existing features and functionsUnderstand user behavior based on Google Analytics dataConduct research into city laws, policies, and processesDeliver high-quality content artifacts on strict deadlinesConduct quality assurance and provide critical feedback on other content workstreamsIdentify and track key performance indicators for content deliverables MANDATORY SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:Note: Candidates who do not have mandatory skills will not be considered At least 8 years of full-time experience in the role of content strategist, editorial strategist, information architect, or similarStrong copywriting skills with a portfolio of past workExperience writing to a style guideStrong research skillsStrong interpersonal skills with experience organizing meetings and collaborating with stakeholdersProject management skills with the ability to self-manage tasks and complete work on a deadlineBasic Google Analytics skills: Be able to run reports on web traffic to inform content auditsExperience using user research to inform decision-makingDESIRABLE SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:The successful candidate should possess the following:Bachelor’s degree in relevant fields (e.g., Journalism, Communications, Creative writing, Digital media)Experience working in government, higher education, or non-profit organizationExperience writing in plain language and at a sub-7th grade reading levelExperience working in a modern content management systemExperience navigating complex approval workflows and incorporating feedback from legal, policy, and executive stakeholders.Background in New York City with understanding of how New Yorkers interact with city government
