Hospital Patient Transporter - 3rd ShiftPay Range: $22 - $24 per hour DOELocation: Newport Beach, CAShift: Full-time - 3rd Shift- Must have open availability to include weekends. 6 month assignment with possible extension and FTE conversion depending on need and performance.Position OverviewThe Support Services department ensures timely and efficient transportation of patients and materials internally throughout the hospitals and assigned locations, communications for services for but not limited to: Environmental (EVS) and Engineering Services. Other supporting assistance is provided at varying levels based on the career category they fall in as outlined below.Under the direct supervision of the Support Services Manager, Supervisor and Lead, this position will perform according to established procedures a variety of Patient Transporter duties to maintain a high quality of service that meets and exceeds the hospital/company code of conduct. This includes transport patients & materials throughout the hospital, complete Shift Prep by rounding the floors & completing down time duties, and assists with training new hire Patient Transporters.Key ResponsibilitiesTransporting Patients: Moving patients between departments (e.g., emergency, radiology, operating rooms, and patient rooms) using wheelchairs, stretchers, or beds.Safe Handling: Lifting and transferring patients from beds to wheelchairs or stretchers, often assisting nursing staff.Safety Protocols: Ensuring patient safety by securing safety straps, checking equipment, monitoring for signs of distress, and following infection control procedures.Equipment Management: Cleaning, sanitizing, and maintaining transport equipment (wheelchairs, stretchers, ventilators, IV pumps).Material Delivery: Transporting laboratory specimens, blood products, medications, and medical supplies to designated locations.Equipment Transfer: Delivering and retrieving specialized equipment, such as cardiac chairs or oxygen tanks. Required QualificationsAbility to read, speak, understand, and follow written and verbal instructions in English.Ability to recognize emergencies or urgent situations and communicate effectively.Ability to follow established cleaning protocols and safety procedures.Strong teamwork and communication skills.Ability to work in a fast-paced healthcare environment while maintaining attention to detail. Preferred QualificationsHigh School Diploma or GED.Previous patient transport experience preferred.Basic computer skills, including the ability to use email and complete online training modules.
