Assistant Pastor of Youth and Families

VisionThe position is responsible to lead a church-based youth ministry of discipleship that engages students and their families at Faith Presbyterian Church.Faith Presbyterian Church is a community in Christ that seeks to be confessionally faithful and missionally active. We value participation from our members, while engaging our Gainesville neighbors and the campuses of the University of Florida and Santa Fe College.Our youth ministry is strength of our church. We currently have around 40 middle school and high school students actively involved in the ministry. There are 5-7 volunteers comprised of university students and parents that regularly support the youth pastor in the leadership of the ministry.ResponsibilitiesYouthWork with the Session to Develop a strategy for shepherding and discipling youth to maturityDevelop and oversee Youth Group (serving Middle and High School students)Teach Sunday School and Youth GroupRecruit volunteers to mentor and assist youth, including local college and grad studentsRecommend curriculum for Middle and High School studentsEngage and organize parental involvement in youth ministryCommunicate clearly to parents and congregationPlan retreats, social events, and other youth activitiesDevelop relationships with area school administrators and teachersCongregationRegularly assist in leading worshipPreach occasionally (8+ times per year)Participate in the life of the churchAssist congregation in reaching and caring for college students at the University of Florida and Santa Fe CollegeAssist in teaching Sunday schoolAssist in other duties assigned by Senior Pastor and/or Session (this may include participation in ministries like men's ministry, community groups, and internships.)StaffAttend regular staff meetingsParticipate in staff planning eventsMaintain a positive working relationship with staffJ-18808-Ljbffr
