Job Description
The Julia Brown Schools were founded in 1967 by Charles and Julia Brown. We have over 50 years of experience educating the children using the Montessori method of education. We currently serve children ages 15 months to 9 years old. Our environment is calm and peaceful.Montessori is a system of education for young children that seeks to develop natural interests and activities rather than use formal traditional teaching methods. Dr. Maria Montessori, an Italian physician and educator, developed this unique method of learning in 1907. If you are interested in the Montessori method, there is room for growth at our schools. We prefer to promote from within.Our staff must be caring, dependable, dedicated individuals who truly enjoy working with young children.We have four locations in Maryland:LaurelColumbiaSilver SpringOlneyResponsibilitiesFollowing the principles of the Montessori method, develop careful and creative activities suitable for the children.Manage lunch, nap, recess, and snack timesSupervise children to ensure they are safe at all timesMaintain a clean and tidy classroom consistent with health and safety standardsSkillsProven experience as a Toddler TeacherFamiliarity with safety and sanitation guidelines for classroomsExcellent communication and instructional skillsPatient, flexible, friendly and reliableFlexibility to work with group on your own or to work as a team with a fellow staffBalance between a creative mind and a practical acumenRequirementsDependableAbility to stand for long periods of time.Ability to be active in ensuring the safety of the children and in assisting them through the education curriculum.Ability to be aware at all times of the children and their environment.
