This role is essential to the daily operations of the church and directly impacts the experience of our congregation, staff, and visitors.What You'll DoMaintain cleanliness across all areas (sanctuary, classrooms, offices, nursery, kitchen, restrooms, and common spaces)Perform routine cleaning: vacuuming, mopping, dusting, and sanitizingConduct regular building checks (locks, lighting, appliances, thermostats, etc.)Handle minor repairs and report larger maintenance needsMonitor building and grounds, including debris removal and basic upkeepCoordinate with and oversee outside contractors when neededSet up and break down rooms for church eventsMaintain inventory and order cleaning suppliesEnsure safety and operational readiness of the facilityRespond to church-related communications within one business dayWhat We're Looking ForHigh School Diploma or GED (required)1–3 years of custodial or maintenance experience (preferred)Strong attention to detail and ability to work independentlyGood communication and teamwork skillsBasic math and ability to follow written instructionsPhysically able to lift up to 50 lbs and operate cleaning equipmentDependable, trustworthy, and responsiveA positive attitude and respect for the church's mission and valuesWork EnvironmentFlexible weekday scheduleOccasional evening or special event hours (pre-approved)Supportive and collaborative church communityAdditional RequirementsBackground check required prior to hireCompany DescriptionAt Lynnhaven United Methodist Church (LUMC), we believe that working here isn't just a job—it's a calling.
