GCTD JOB DESCRIPTIONJOB TITLE: NON-CDL OPERATORLOCATION BRAZORIA / GALVESTON COUNTIESEMPLOYMENT STATUS: FULL-TIME, NON-EXEMPT, BENEFITS-ELIGIBLESUMMARYThe NON-CDL operator will provide transportation services in the counties in which GCTD operates, be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of vehicles, and always be required to perform professionally.REQUIRED JOB DUTIES, ABILITIES, TRAITSAbility to deal professionally, ethically, and effectively with customers, co-workers, vendors, and the public, including providing prompt and courteous customer serviceAbility to express self clearly and effectively, orally and in writingAdherence to all GCTD policies and proceduresAssist dispatcher, lead bus operator, managers, or directors with office responsibilities as requestedAssist passengers on and off vehiclesCollect and record bus fares per GCTD proceduresAttend all mandatory programs or staff trainingEnsure that the vehicle is maintained appropriately and complies with safety standards, including completing and or submitting daily vehicle inspections, cleaning the vehicle, or any other operator duties which may be assignedMaintain documentation according to GCTD policies and proceduresNotification of late arrivals and or cancellation of service, clerical work answering telephones, directing calls, and or transit schedulingNotify dispatcher of delays more than 10 minutes in schedule and when neededNotify the dispatcher, transportation manager, lead bus operator, or the director of operations immediately of problems concerning the safe and efficient operation of the vehicle, including any necessary repairs or maintenance concernsNotify the lead operator, manager, or office manager of any problems or complaints by the end of the business day before clocking outPick up and drop off passengers according to a scheduleProvide responsive, efficient, courteous, professional customer service and assistance to all passengers, customers, vendors, co-workers, and the publicProvide passengers assistance when requestedRequires ability to work collaboratively in a team settingRequires maintaining a DOT medical card, a Texas driver's license, reliable transportation, and continuous auto liability insuranceStrict adherence to the professional, ethical, and legal requirements outlined in the GCTD policy and procedure manualSubmit incident and or accident reports by the end of the business day before clocking out to the lead operator or managerTreat all individuals with courtesy, decency, respect, and professionalism at all timesWill be responsible and accountable for the adherence to and promotion of the GCTD policies and procedures and will require communication with various departments and co-workers to foster, develop and continue our community partnerships as it relates to the positionWorking knowledge and ability to drive transit type vehiclesWorking knowledge of the operation of wheelchair liftsSUPERVISIONReceives direct supervision from the transportation managerREQUIRED EXPERIENCEAttention to detail and problem-solving skillsEnglish proficiencyExcellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize workExcellent written and verbal communication skillsStrong organizational and planning skillsRequires proficiency with computer hardware and software to include Microsoft Office applications, using a computer with a keyboard and mouse, navigation with a web browser, checking and sending email, and use of internet search enginesREQUIRED EDUCATIONHigh School Diploma or GED.
