The position is part of the Law, Security & Public Policy Division at Caterpillar and will report to the Associate General Counsel located in Houston. This position may be assigned a combination of responsibilities in various areas. This is an outstanding opportunity for a talented individual to join a world-class legal team and work on complex legal issues in an exciting, fast-paced environment.What You Will DoDraft, review, revise, negotiate, and provide counsel to the business on commercial contractsAdvise management on legal issues arising from Caterpillar's relationship with third parties, including specific commercial, disputes, regulatory, compliance, investigation, and other issues that may arise from time to timeWork with other subject matter experts in CaterpillarProvide counselling on legal matters and related risks and opportunities based on an accurate interpretation of the law as it applies to various situationsHave and/or develop a deep understanding of the business, to consult with management on matters involving significant risk to the enterprise and requiring a high degree of confidentialityWork independently but with support and collaboration of other attorneys and senior leadership within the Law, Security & Public Policy DivisionParticipate in day-to day tactical legal practice, identifying and resolving issues in a variety of practice areasCoordinate with outside counsel in the region to obtain local adviceDegree And Experience RequirementsJ.D. from an accredited law school with strong academic credentialsActive Bar admission in any U.S. stateConsiderable experience in the practice of commercial and contract law, corporate law, and/or complianceWhat You HaveRisk Management: Knowledge of processes, tools and techniques for assessing and controlling an organization's exposure to risks of various kinds; ability to apply knowledge of risk management appropriately to diverse situations.Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.Managing Multiple Priorities: Knowledge of effective self-management practices; ability to manage multiple concurrent objectives, projects, groups, or activities, making effective judgments as to prioritizing and time allocation.Problem Solving: Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.Top Candidates Will Also HaveExperience supporting an international businessFlexibility and eagerness to work on a broad range of legal mattersExcellent interpersonal skills with an absolute commitment to professionalism and collegialityFluent in SpanishStrong presentation skills with a calm, confident and practical, solutions-oriented approachAdditional InfoThis position can be located in Houston, TX (10203 Sam Houston Park Drive, Houston, 77064), or Ft.
