Job Description
The Registered Nurse I, under general supervision, provides direct patient care, patient evaluations, and treatment in accordance with Professional Nursing Standards.
This position may pay more than the salary listed above depending on the qualifications and experience of the selected candidate.
Responsibilities:
Perform routine nursing procedures & techniques. Observe and screen patients, monitor vital signs, perform therapeutic measures, and report patients' conditions to physician. Refer patients to the physician and schedule appointments as appropriate.
Provide phlebotomy services and assist with the distribution of patient medicine as required. Provide support for a CLIA-waived laboratory as needed.
Assist in maintaining and updating patient health records to record and report as required by agency, law, or policy, such as the Department of State Health Services. Assist in maintaining clinic supplies, equipment, and devices.
Provide patient and community health education in patient visits, trainings, workshops, health fairs, etc. Represent the department on university, community and professional committees.
Other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience:
Must be licensed by the State of Texas as a Registered Nurse.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications. Knowledge of standard nursing procedures and techniques.
Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
Verbal and written communication skills. Interpersonal and organizational skills.
Ability to work with sensitive information and maintain confidentiality.
Ability to use and manage an Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system.
Registrations, Certifications, and Licenses:
Licensed RN and CPR certified.
